The Red Sweet Apple Kiwifruit Park has entered the winter pruning period, and we invite you to do soDr. Han Fei, Senior Experimenter, Wuhan Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of SciencesComing to the site to guide, kiwifruit winter shearing is a key measure to ensure high yield stability and improve fruit quality in the second year, and the kiwifruit park has fully entered the field work of winter shearing.

Trimming time

The winter pruning time of kiwifruit is generally arranged after the leaves have fallen, around the winter solstice. This is because after the kiwifruit leaves fall, the nutrients flow back from the small branches to the large branches, and the return flow ends basically at the winter solstice, so around the winter solstice, it is the best time for kiwifruit to cut in winter.

Pruning method

Stub:It refers to cutting off a part of an annual branch. According to the degree of pruning, it can be divided into light stub (only pruning off the tip of the branch 1 4 1 3), medium stub (cutting off about 1 2 of the tip of the branch), heavy stub (cutting off about 2 3 of the tip of the branch) and very heavy stub (leaving only a few deflated buds at the base of the branch).

Light stubIt is mainly used in the delicious kiwifruit with medium and long fruit branches and vines

Medium stubIt is mostly used in the skeleton branch shaping, the renewal and rejuvenation of senescent trees and the Chinese kiwifruit varieties with weak branches

Heavy stubIt is applied in the renewal and shaping of senescent trees and drooping and weakened fruiting mother branches and vines;

Very heavy stubIt is used when cultivating small fruiting mother branches on the back of young trees.

Retraction: refers to the cutting off of a part of the perennial branch. The retraction has the effect of strengthening the growth of the remaining branches, renewing and rejuvenating, and improving the fruiting rate and fruit qualityFor dense plantations, it can prevent canopy canopy.

Thinning:Refers to the removal of annual and perennial branches from the base. Thinning and pruning make the branches evenly distributed, improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions, regulate the relationship between vegetative growth and reproductive growth, make the nutrients concentrated for the use of retained branches, and promote flowering and fruiting.

Tie vine:It is a method of tying branches evenly to the surface of the shelf.

Trim the target

1. Cultivate a reasonable tree body mechanism and expand the canopy area.

2. Cultivate a robust fruiting mother branch to improve yield and quality.

3. Adjust the balance of the tree and adjust the contradiction between growth and fruiting.

4. Promote the abundant yield in the peak production period year after year, and prevent the fruiting parts from moving outward.

5. It is conducive to other operation management.

During winter pruning, the old fruiting branches can be retracted to the newly selected fruiting mother branches to achieve the purpose of renewal. If there are full-grown fruiting branches or vegetative branches at the base of the fruiting mother branch, it can be retracted to a strong part. If the fruiting mother branch is weak or the branch is too high, it should be cut from the part with latent buds at the base, and the cutting part should be grasped at 3 cm above the bud to promote the germination of latent buds, and a strong new shoot should be selected as the fruiting mother branch in the following year.
