The difference between condensed and additive silicone encapsulants

Mondo Digital Updated on 2024-01-30

Silicone pottingThe glue has good fluidity, simple operation and convenience, can be infusion, injection and other molding applications, and has excellent electrical, protection, physical, weather resistance and other performance characteristics after curing. In terms of curing method, there are two types of silicone potting adhesives: additive molding and condensation type, so what are the differences in application?

one, curing depth

After the two components of the potting compound are mixed evenly, the glue is potted, and the curing process is the same as a whole, that is to say, how thick the potting is, how thick the overall curing is, and the condensation potting compound is not suitable for condensation potting compound because the curing process requires the moisture in the air to participate in the reaction, and the curing is carried out from the surface to the inside, and the curing depth is related to the moisture and time, so in the application, the filling or potting thickness of the product is darker or thicker, and the condensation potting compound is generally not applicable.

2. Heating application

Improving the curing speed of silicone potting adhesive can improve the efficiency of production, so many users increase the baking process, which greatly accelerates the time of the next process, but this process is only suitable for the use of addition molding silicone potting compound, and the curing of condensation potting compound needs to have two key conditions, namely moisture and catalyst, and there is no obvious relationship with temperature.

3. Adhesive performance

In the application process, when silicone potting adhesive needs to have certain adhesive performance, the condensed silicone potting compound is preferred, which has good adhesion performance with most materials, and there will be no edge debonding, and the addition of silicone is slightly worse than that.

In addition to the above differences, for example, condensed silicone encapsulants are more resistant to toxicity than additive moldingFood-related applications, selective addition molding, no molecular volatilization.
