As a well-known global competition focusing on the field of smart energy, the TERA-AWARD competition has been launched by Dr. Lee Ka-kit, Chairman of Hong Kong and China Gas in 2019, and this year is the third year, and the international influence and globalization of the competition are expanding day by day.
The entries of this year's competition come from 59 countries and regions, including China, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Uganda, Germany, Australia, Canada, Singapore, and Switzerland, covering six continents: Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Oceania. Among the 450 registered projects, 283 are overseas projects, accounting for more than 60%, which is more than double the number of overseas projects registered in the 2022 competition.
Under the general trend of accelerating global energy transition and climate action, renewable energy is the most popular track in this year's competition, accounting for 25% of the projectsIt is followed by energy storage and energy conversion, accounting for 17%;As the most important position in the fight against climate change, the "Green and Smart City" track was included in the competition for the first time this year, and has received widespread attention, with the number of entries on a par with the carbon neutrality track, accounting for 16%-17%. In addition, the energy digitalization track accounted for 11%, the hydrogen energy track accounted for 8%, and other innovative projects accounted for 6%.
At present, the competition has entered the evaluation period, and it is expected that the list of shortlisted projects for the interview will be announced in March 2024. The judging expert team of the competition is composed of top experts from domestic and foreign industry, academia and research institutions, and will comprehensively evaluate the entries from the four dimensions of innovation, business potential, execution and organization, and finally select the major awards of this competition. The award ceremony will be held in April 2024.
The TERA-AWARD competition has always been committed to becoming a "Nobel" competition in the energy industry. This year's competition awards include gold, silver, and bronze awards, as well as "Growth Star", "Innovation Pioneer", "Excellence" awards, and "Bole" awards to encourage entrepreneurs in the field of zero-carbon technology in multiple dimensions. Among them, the Gold Award of US$1 million is the highest prize of the energy industry competition, the Silver Award is US$100,000, and the Bronze Award is US$50,000.
The competition will also invite experts, well-known mentors and investors in different fields to interact with the participating project teams in various forms to promote the rapid growth and development of the project.
