Floormap3DI-R is a magnetic flux leakage detector for tank floor corrosion, which is produced by Siliverwing Silver Wing Company in the United Kingdom. The Floormap3DI-R uses STARS technology, a surface topological air-gap magnetoresistive sensor, to quickly detect the bottom of large tanks, improving Life at Risk (PLA) and Risk-Based Detection (RBI) repair planning.
The Floormap3DI-R has a high-density magnetic flux leakage sensor, combined with advanced signal processing technology to deliver the most accurate and efficient detection probability.
Stars Technology Silver Wing System
The innovative "STARS" technology adds a set of sensors to detect changes in magnetic field strength caused by defects on the upper surface, combined with traditional magnetic flux leakage to distinguish between the upper and lower surface locations of defects. Floormap3D has a total of 256 sensors with enhanced lateral resolution to detect the smallest defects and reduce sensitivity for defect localization. The 6mm coating can be effectively penetrated, so that the tank can be inspected without removing the coating.
Data acquisition software
The on-board computer uses touchscreen technology for easy operator operation in the tank environment. The inspection system captures all magnetic flux leakage signals and analyzes them in real-time to show the location and severity of corrosion defects. Operators can choose from top, bottom, or full defect views, which provide timely feedback in the tank environment. The board is defined in shape and size, showing the effective scan path for the operator to use. Obstructions such as heating tubes, floating roof supports, and old board patches are shown as unscanned areas.
Digital calibration
In addition to improving defect size measurements, ZUI's new complete digital calibration system eliminates the need to adjust the height of the scanning probe without the need for wall thickness and floor adjustments. When inspecting other floors with different wall thicknesses, it is common for the MRI scanner to be removed from the tank for recalibration, wasting time and placing additional demands on the inspector. The digital calibration is recorded in the data temperature manager of each base plate, and the detection and setting information can be traced.
High efficiency & high precision
The FloorMap3DI-R has a wider scanning probe than the previous model, with a daily inspection area of 1440 square metersUnlike a manual "stop on defect" system, it does not need to monitor the number of probe indicators. The software-guided drawing program facilitates the coverage of the large floor scan, helping to ensure that the large floor area is scanned to reduce the chance of missing corrosion. The combination of high-resolution magnetic flux leakage probes and Xianjin's signal processing results in a greatly improved corrosion detection rate and profile measurement compared to the previous generation inspection system. In general, when inspecting 6mm base plates, the detection rate of corrosion defects is 100% (API 653 regulations) and the shape measurement accuracy is 5%. The system can also detect tube defects and perforations up to 3 mm deep, and the unique view of raw magnetic flux leakage and STARS data facilitates the characterization of defect types.
Reporting software
The reporting software of the Floormap3DI-R is supported by the SIMS reporting component, and the simulation reporting software automatically generates a CAD view of the tank floor in a data file. The SIMS Reporting Component provides a powerful and efficient way to generate high-quality tank environmental reports and archive inspection results.
Other data such as visual, ultrasound, vacuum chamber and magnetic particle or PDF data can be added to the report to generate a complete panoramic view of the tank, including edge plates. The new features of the software allow for the overwriting of future inspection data to assess corrosion growth in accordance with PLA RBI standards.
