The partners of Porsche in Saxony celebrate an important milestone. The 2,000,000th Porsche produced at the Leipzig plant was officially completed and delivered on December 4 local time. The new model belonging to Dubai owners is a metallic Madeira gold Panamera Turbo e-hybrid sports coupe with a maximum horsepower output of 680 PS.

The Porsche Panamera series has been assembled at the Leipzig plant since 2009. Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche's Leipzig subsidiary, said: "Porsche's success story in Leipzig is inextricably linked to the Panamera series, the production of which is a symbol of the rapid growth and growth of Porsche's Leipzig plant. 」

The Leipzig plant was first built in 2002. Since 2009, the Panamera has been manufactured, painted and finished by the Volkswagen Group, and then sent to the Leipzig plant for assembly. In November 2013, the Leipzig plant was transformed into a full-fledged factory with the expansion of the body building area and the painting workshop. Since 2016, when the second generation of the Panamera was produced entirely at the plant, the Panamera has been officially labelled as Leipzig.

According to Rupp: "The full expansion of the Leipzig plant was a very innovative decision at the time. As a full-service plant, we are fully responsible for everything from body structure to final assembly, and lay the foundation for the production and growth of new models in the future. Today, Porsche is one of the key drivers of economic growth and job creation in central Germany, with more than 4,400 employees currently employed at the Leipzig plant.

"Our success comes from the hard work of our people, and it is only through the determination and perseverance of the team that we can overcome the challenges of the past," said Rupp. In recent years, the plant has developed into a center of expertise for electric vehicles. In the future, it is expected to be able to manufacture gasoline, electric and hybrid powertrains on the same production line.
