Geographical location
Douala is an important port in West Africa, located in the southwest coastal plain of Cameroon, 25 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, where the wide Buri River is connected to the Atlantic Ocean to form a natural harbor.
Port of Douala
The port is divided into two areas, south and north, and can berth huge ships. There are 20 main berths in the port area, and the shoreline is 3,580 meters long. Loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, gantry cranes, loaders, tugboats and ro-ro facilities. The storage area of the port area is 440,000 square meters, and the water area is 200,000 square meters. Imports here mainly include machinery and equipment, vehicles and consumer goods.
The general cargo terminal has 11 berths, each 150 meters long, dedicated to handling general cargo. The bulk terminal mainly handles timber transport on its three dedicated berths, with a stacking area of 200,000 square meters.
Grocery Terminal.
The container handling facility in Douala is one of the best in West Africa. The yard consists of three berths, each 500 meters long, and can handle 5,000 TEU per day. The terminal has a dock with a built-in ramp for handling RoRo cargo.
The terminal has 4 cranes, 18 reach stackers, 15 forklifts, 30 tractors, 29 trailers and other fully functional modern port equipment. The storage area covers an area of 21 hectares and is adjacent to two terminals.
