The process of making the tumbler
The tumbler is a classic children's toy that is loved by children for its unique physical properties. It's fun and simple, and it sparks the interest of many people in making hands-on products. Here's how to make a tumbler, as well as some tips to help you make your own tumbler successfully.
Ingredients: An empty egg (preferably fresh so that the shell is stronger).
Colored cardboard. Glue.
Watercolor pen. Plasticine.
A small bead (such as a glass bead or a plastic bead).
Step: Prepare the eggs: Choose a fresh egg and gently make a small hole in the tip. Use a pipette or syringe to carefully remove the egg whites and yolks from the holes. Make sure the inside of the eggshell is completely clean.
Filling with plasticine: Choose a softer plasticine, knead it into small balls, and stuff it inside the egg. Gently press the plasticine with your fingers so that it is evenly distributed inside the eggshell. This step is key because it determines the balance of the tumbler.
To make a hat: cut a circle from colored cardboard and roll it into a cone shape to use as a tumbler's hat. Use glue to stick the cap to the top of the egg.
Draw the face: Use a watercolor pen to draw the face of the tumbler on top of the egg. You can draw the eyes, nose, and mouth to make it look more interesting.
Add small beads: Put a small bead on the inside of the hat, which will increase the weight of the tumbler and improve its balance. Make sure the beads don't slip off.
Play & Maintain: Now your tumbler is done!Gently push it and see how it swings and regains balance on its own. To maintain the freshness of the tumbler, avoid leaving it in a humid place or exposing it to sunlight for a long time.
Tip: Choose the right ingredients: Try to choose fresh and firm eggs so that the shell is not easy to break. At the same time, plasticine should be of a type that is soft and easy to shape.
Balance is crucial: when filling the plasticine, make sure it is evenly distributed for optimal balance. If a part is too heavy or too light, the tumbler may not work properly.
Control the size of the holes: When punching, the size of the holes should be moderate to ensure the strength of the eggshell and the smooth extraction of the egg whites and yolks.
Pay attention to the color matching: Use colored cardboard and different colors of watercolor pens to spice up the tumbler and make it look more eye-catching.
Practice & Improvement: It may not be perfect when making a tumbler for the first time, but don't be discouraged. Experiment with different methods or materials to find the best crafting technique for you.
Safety Precautions: Make sure all materials are safe and non-toxic, especially for children's toys. Avoid glues and pigments that may contain harmful substances.
Unlimited creativity: In addition to the basic tumbler shape, you can try adding other elements or designs, such as making tumblers with different expressions or shapes to make them more personalized and creative.
Share & Communicate: Share your tumbler creations with family and friends, and exchange experiences and creative inspiration with each other. By sharing and communicating, you may discover more interesting ways and ideas to improve your tumbler.
Keep it safe: If you want to keep your tumbler for a long time, you can choose to keep it in a dry, cool place and check its condition regularly to ensure it stays in good working order.
Enjoy the process of making tumblers: The most important thing is to enjoy the process of making tumblers, playing with the children and learning new skills. By making tumblers, you can develop creativity, hands-on skills, and problem-solving skills.
