In China, there is a special group of people who belong to the system, have a certain rank, and enjoy corresponding treatment, but they have no actual position and no clear work content. They are called "idle people" or "idle people" and are a peculiar phenomenon in society. How did they become such people?What is their life like?What do they think about their situation?In order to answer these questions, I decided to visit an idle person in the system, and the following is a transcript of my interview.
The subject of my interview was Mr. Li, a 45-year-old deputy director-level cadre. His office is located in the corner of a tall building, with a large desk, a computer, some filing cabinets, and a sofa. A landscape painting hangs on the wall, and the skyline of Beijing is visible from the window. Mr. Li was wearing a jacket and looked capable, but his eyes revealed a hint of loneliness.
Mr. Li told me that he was an excellent student since he was a child, and he was admitted to a prestigious university in Beijing, and after graduation, he entered the first ministry and commission, and was promoted all the way to become a deputy director-level cadre. He has been in charge of some important projects and has been involved in the formulation of some policies, and his work has been recognized by his superiors and respected by his colleagues. At that time, he said, he felt that he was a useful person, contributing to the country, serving the society, and fighting for his ideals.
However, the good times did not last long, two years ago, there was a major adjustment in his department, his original leader was transferred, and the new leader was not very satisfied with him, feeling that he was too autonomous and not obedient enough. So, he was transferred to an inconsequential position, without any actual work, just clocking in and out every day, going home from work, occasionally attending some meetings, and writing some reports. He said that he suddenly changed from a busy cadre to an idle person, and he felt very lost, helpless, and bored.
Mr. Li said that his current life is one word: leisure. He goes to the office at eight o'clock every morning, turns on the computer, browses the news, looks at WeChat, replies to some friends' messages, and then starts doing nothing. He said that sometimes he would read some books and learn something new, but he didn't find it meaningful because he didn't have the opportunity to use it and no one communicated with him. He said that he sometimes writes some articles and posts them on some self-leading platforms, but he feels that these are not influential, because he has no fame and no fans. He said that he sometimes does some exercise to keep fit, but he doesn't find it fun because he doesn't have any partners and no goals.
Mr. Li said that his current life is one word: boring. He gets off work at 5 p.m. every day, comes home, finishes eating, watches TV, plays with his phone, and then goes to sleep. He said he had no hobbies, no social interactions, his wife was a doctor and was busy at work, and his child was a high school student with a tight Xi, and they didn't have much time to spend with him. He said that he sometimes gets together with some old classmates and colleagues, but he doesn't think it's interesting, because they all have their own jobs, their own lives, and they don't have any common topics or goals.
Mr. Li said that his current mentality is one word: helpless. He said that he didn't want to continue with this life, he wanted to have a meaningful job, he wanted to have some valuable contributions, he wanted to have some challenging goals. But he said there was no way he could change his situation, no way he could leave the system, no way he could find a new job. He said that he is 45 years old, his age is not young, his ability is not strong, he is not very experienced, his connections are not wide, and his opportunities are not many. He said that he was Xi to life inside the system, he enjoyed the treatment within the system, he relied on the security within the system, he was afraid of risks outside the system, he was worried about competition outside the system, and he did not dare to try outside the system.
Mr. Li said that his choice now is one word: forbearance. He said that he can only endure such a life, he can only adapt to such an environment, and he can only accept such a fate. He said that he would not give up his rank, he would not give up his treatment, he would not give up his security, he would not give up his system. He said that he would continue to be an idle person, he would continue to be a boring person, he would continue to be a helpless person, and he would continue to be a ninja.
Through the interview with Mr. Li, I have some understanding of the idle personnel in the system, and I also have some feelings. I think they are a very special existence, they have both advantages and disadvantages in the system, they have both comfort and depression in the system, they have both belonging and loneliness in the system. They are a kind of people who are both lucky and unlucky, they are a kind of people who are both free and unfree, they are a kind of people who are both valuable and worthless.
I think that their existence also reflects some problems and challenges of the system. How to rationally arrange human resources in the system, how to effectively stimulate the enthusiasm for work in the system, how to scientifically evaluate the work performance in the system, how to fairly handle the distribution of interests in the system, and how to adapt to the reform of the management system in the system are all problems that need to be considered and solved.
I hope that through my article, more people can pay attention to the idle personnel in the system, and more people can also promote the improvement of the system. I also hope that Mr. Li and his ilk can find their own value, find their own happiness, and find their own direction.
