At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology and Xinhuanet will jointly launch the New Year's Eve series of "Small Family Events - Beijing Science Model", which will take us to get close to outstanding scientific and technological workers, enter the world of science, and feel the charm of science and technology. Today, we will take you to Peng Xiaobo, chairman of Beijing Interstellar Glory Space Technology Co., Ltd. and winner of the Beijing Outstanding Contribution Talent Award.

Set sail, the road to commercial aerospace autonomy"As a person born in the 70s of the last century, when I was a child, I thought that space launch vehicles such as artificial satellites and rockets were magical, and I especially wanted to go to **, so I chose the aircraft design major of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics during the college entrance examination. If Peng Xiaobo's aerospace research journey began with curiosity and exploration of the unknown, then his embarking on the road of commercial aerospace was the result of various coincidences.
In 2018, Peng Xiaobo truly entered the track of aerospace commercial development, and gradually realized that under the dual development requirements of technological iteration and market logic survival, commercial aerospace needs to achieve innovation and development in order to truly "enter orbit". To this end, Peng Xiaobo led the team to plan the technical development path of "from solid to liquid, from small to large, from heaven to earth, and solid-liquid simultaneously", starting from reusable space launch vehicle technology, anchoring the future constellation networking, space station cargo transportation and other high-frequency and large-scale space transportation needs, planning the largest known diameter in China, the strongest carrying capacity, the lowest per kilogram of load launch of the reusable medium and large liquid oxygen methane launch vehicle hyperbola-3 (SQX-3). In April 2023, the hyperbola-1 Yao-6 carrier rocket (SQX-1 Y6) developed by Peng Xiaobo and his team was successfully launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China, verifying the correctness of the overall scheme and technology of Hyperbola-1. At present, Peng Xiaobo and his team are gradually building an intelligent manufacturing system around commercial launch vehicles, hoping to create new achievements in China's commercial aerospace.
R&D, a team's collective wisdom to tackle key problems"R&D with the thinking of making system products. ”
Peng Xiaobo believes that the research and development of aerospace systems pursues global optimization, so all system departments are required to communicate in a timely manner to achieve the best overall performance indicators. He mentioned that Huang Weilu, the founder of the "two bombs and one satellite," advocated four "common" principles, that is, joint study of problems, joint overcoming of difficulties, joint grasp of margins, and joint bearing of risks, which is still a valuable experience in solving coordination problems in aerospace work.
In 2021, the Hyperbola-1 Yao-2 (SQX-1 Y2) launch vehicle launched by Peng Xiaobo's team failed to launch. Team members were frustrated by the voices of skepticism. As the leader, Peng Xiaobo actively encouraged the team, maximized everyone's enthusiasm, and devoted himself to the work of technology zeroing. Later, the team completed the review in only 28 days, achieving a closed loop of zeroing.
This lesson was a wake-up call for our team to realize the importance of quality work as we ran fast. At the same time, we have a new understanding of risk boundaries and systemic risk control. The work of all our departments needs to be communicated and coordinated, pay attention to every detail, and pay attention to every component in order to minimize the uncertainty of the event, prevent every potential risk, and truly promote the progress of the aerospace industry. ”

Breakthrough, the future orientation of China's commercial aerospaceThanks to the support of relevant policies and the unremitting efforts of all walks of life, the ecology of China's commercial aerospace industry has become increasingly rich and has begun to take shape. In the first half of 2023, China's commercial aerospace corporation set records such as "one arrow with 26 satellites" and "the world's first liquid oxygen methane rocket into orbit", and the project showed a "blowout" development trend. Peng Xiaobo believes that China's commercial aerospace has reached a critical point in its development, and the next three years may usher in a more rapid period of prosperity. During this period, commercial aerospace companies need to explore the potential fields and development paths of market-led, sustainable and economical commercial aerospace, focus on market-oriented technological innovation and product creation for the consumer market, open up a diversified development track, and help China become a space power in all aspects.
When it comes to the cultivation of talents in China's aerospace industry in the future, Peng Xiaobo believes that those "fresh blood" who are interested in participating in the aerospace industry are born at the right time. The starry sky is vast, the exploration is endless, and the "relays" should continue to develop new directions for China's aerospace and continue the story of China's aerospace. (Lee Thi Joan).
