In the latest round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Qassam Brigades, a military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, announced the destruction of an IDF tunnel in the Gaza Strip, a message published by the Qassam Brigades' Telegram channel.

According to the Qassam Brigades, the Israeli army dug a tunnel in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza City, which was successfully destroyed by the Qassam Brigade fighters, causing heavy losses to the Israeli army. The mines** caused IDF soldiers to be attacked by mortars from the Qassam Brigade as they tried to evacuate the tunnel.

The IDF press office has previously pointed out that Hamas forces have built up to 800 tunnel shafts in the Gaza Strip, which shows the long-standing hostility between the two sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The incident came after the expiration of a truce between Israel and Hamas, which had been in effect since 24 November. During the truce, the two sides exchanged more than 200 hostages and prisoners, but on December 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that Hamas had violated the ceasefire agreement and entered Israeli territory**, leading to a resumption of the Israeli army's offensive in the Gaza Strip.

The escalation of the conflict shows the continuation of tensions between Palestine and Israel, which have not eased despite a brief ceasefire. The Israeli side stressed that Hamas's actions violated the ceasefire, while Hamas demonstrated their responsiveness and resistance to Israel through the actions of the Qassam Brigades.
