The 2023 China Urban Creativity Index (CCCI2023) was recently released in Shenzhen. The latest CCCI index shows that the cultural industry in each city has developed steadily, and the creativity index of most cities has also shown a gradual upward trend. The top 10 cities are: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Suzhou and Nanjing. It is reported that this is in line with the top 10 cities last year, but the city ranking has changed.
The CCCI index was created in 2012 by the team of Professor Zhou Zhimin of the School of Management of Shenzhen University. The index is the first cross-city comparison of cultural industry competitiveness index in China, which is an important brand activity of national cultural innovation research and an important achievement in the field of cross-regional cultural industry innovation research in China. With the funding of the development of Shenzhen's propaganda and cultural undertakings, the CCCI index has been researched and published for 12 consecutive years, and its research results have won the third prize of the 5th "Excellent Book Report Award" (Social Sciences Academic Press).
China Urban Creativity Index System (2022-2023).
According to Professor Zhou Zhimin, China's urban creativity index can quantify the performance of local cultural industries from both horizontal and vertical perspectives, and provide a reference for improving the urban creativity index and urban governance. Based on Porter's diamond model, system theory, Interbrand brand evaluation method and other related theoretical methods, the project not only considers the promotion of talents, funds, science and technology, culture and other resources, but also considers the pulling role of cultural demand and consumption potential, and finally constructs a China Urban Creative Index (CCCI) model covering 4 modules, 11 secondary indicators and 26 ** indicators.
The research team evaluated 50 large and medium-sized cities in China, and also separately evaluated 11 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for five consecutive years, forming the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area City Creativity Index Report. The original data of the indicators are all in the China City Statistical Yearbook, Statistical Bulletin and related public data, etc., which ensures the objectivity, authenticity, accuracy and authority of the data collection and analysis results.
According to the 2023 CCCI research report, the following conclusions are drawn:
1.In the ranking of China's urban creativity index, the leading cities are relatively stable, and the rest of the cities have some changes. Compared with last year, some cities (such as Dalian, Changzhou, etc.) have advanced by 4-6 places, and the ranking has improved greatly. This shows that the cultural industry in these cities has a strong momentum of development and has great development potential.
On the whole, China's urban creativity index has been steadily improving, and the competition atmosphere between most cities is fierce. Nearly 70 percent of the 50 large and medium-sized cities in China have changed their rankings, reflecting the fierce competition in the rankings.
2.The top 10 on the list showed a trend of catching up with and surpassing learning, and there was a trend of steady change. While this year's top 10 cities are the same as last year's, there is a slight change in the order of the rankings. Chengdu and Chongqing both moved up one place, indicating that the leading cities continue to focus on the development of creative and cultural industries and maintain their growth momentum.
3.The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area City Creativity Index is above the average of all cities on the list. Among them, the demand driving force of cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is much higher than the average of all cities on the list, which shows that the consumption demand in the cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is strong.
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Creativity Index System (2022-2023) (Note: Data ** in 2021-2022 Yearbook).
In addition, although the industrial influence, factor driving force and development support of the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are higher than the average level of all cities, which is higher than that of previous years, the gap is small. This shows that the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area still need to optimize the development plan of the cultural industry, give more policy support to the cultural industry, and increase the investment of resources in culture, science and technology, so as to strengthen the competitive advantage in the cultural industry.

4.Shenzhen is firmly in the first camp of urban creativity in China, and it deserves its name. Shenzhen ranks third in the 2023 CCCI Index rankings, behind Beijing and Shanghai. Among them, the total number of patent applications authorized ranks first on the list.
1. The total number of patent applications and the proportion of R&D investment in GDP of the whole society are among the highest, indicating that Shenzhen ranks in the forefront of innovation input and output, and the innovation and creativity of the whole city are booming.
