Model of the Qilu Era丨Cheng Ping Let every weld have a soul

Mondo Science Updated on 2024-01-31

"Welding is an art, if you want to do it to the extreme, so that every weld has a soul, it depends on three points of perception and seven points of obsession. "Model of the Qilu era" Cheng Ping said. With this obsession, Cheng Ping and his team continue to invent and create, filling a number of gaps in the domestic welding field.

Collaboration between the old and the new to push technology forward.

In Cheng Ping's view, science and technology are advancing, the times are advancing, and only by constantly innovating the welding process can we cope with more complex operation scenarios.

When he first entered the industry, there was no teacher to teach him, so Cheng Ping took the initiative to learn welding technology from the master in the factory. Nowadays, there are more and more highly educated talents in the factory, and there is a greater need for experienced teachers to teach skills.

In 2017, Cheng Ping Innovation Studio was established. In the studio, the technicians are divided into skill innovation teams and technology innovation teams. "The master has been deeply involved in the front line for many years, has experience but lacks theoretical support, and the new trainees have rich theoretical knowledge but lack of practice, and the two can promote the welding technology forward by giving full play to their respective advantages. Cheng Ping said.

Faced with the problem that the joint surface of the imported valve could not be repaired, he led the technical team to rise to the challenge and innovated and developed the cemented carbide cobalt-based 60 vacuum cold welding repair technology, which solved the problems such as the pressure bearing of the rear swing hose welding parts of the Suzaku II launch vehicle engine and the PB160 alloy stator welding of the key national deep-sea exploration project, and made outstanding contributions to China's aerospace and deep-sea exploration.

Since 2014, Cheng Ping has been working as a coach in international welding competitions, and he has guided students all over the country to train more than 50 high-skilled welding talents for the country, some of whom have become a new generation of craftsmen and model workers.

Innovation is about thinking a little more and going the extra mile.

Whether in work or life, Cheng Ping always admonishes himself to be a "caring person".

In June 2017, during the routine maintenance of the staff, it was found that the joint surface of the unit's adjustment door was seriously damaged, and if it was not repaired in time, it would cause a large-scale power outage. And according to the bidding process, the accessories simply did not have time to buy new ones.

The time is tight and the task is heavy, Cheng Ping has repeatedly tested in the laboratory, but due to the different hardness of the joint surface of the two materials, there are always cracks on the welding surface. On a thunderous night, Cheng Ping was pacing downstairs in the unit worriedly, and his whole body was drenched in heavy rain. "It was the 'divine assistance' of the heavy rain that reminded me of the method of water cooling and cooling. Cheng Ping finally broke through the technical bottleneck, and thus developed the Stellite cemented carbide vacuum water-cooled surfacing repair process, filling the domestic gap.

Innovation is inspired by accumulation and detail. On Cheng Ping's desk, there is a book of "Special Equipment Welding Technology", in which there are only a few technologies related to Cheng Ping's daily work, but he will also study each of them in depth. "Knowledge is connected, and sometimes 'grafting' can do wonders. Cheng Ping said.

Master Cheng often tells us that innovation is to think a little more than others and take one more step. Wei Yao, a member of Chengping Innovation Studio, told reporters that most of the inventions and creations in the studio are based on the inspiration generated by the daily work scenes of welders, and the problems solved by these inventions are experienced by most welders, so the conversion rate of results is very high.

What should I do if the house is on fire due to the falling of welding slag from a high altitude? What should I do if the welder wears heavy gloves and it is difficult to twist the wire? What should I do if there is no light source in a dark environment?......It is the practical problems faced by these front-line workers that have led to the emergence of folding welding slag fire umbrellas, manual argon arc welding automatic wire feeders, and arc light collection and reuse masks. More than 30 power welding technology innovations, more than 10 invention patents, behind each innovation is Cheng Ping's thinking and exploration of welding work.

Use technology to control the right to speak.

The international competition is an important test and improvement of welders' skills, Cheng Ping from the contestants step by step to coaches, referees, judges, he found that foreign welding technology is far less solid than the domestic one, but the "rules of the game" are formulated by them.

In 2019, Cheng Ping led a team to Beijing to participate in the innovation exhibition competition, and the manual argon arc welding automatic wire feeder was displayed at the scene, which attracted many visitors. One of the foreign colleagues wanted to buy a prototype with a lot of money, but Cheng Ping politely refused. "This is our country's own technology, and only the more we have patented inventions, the more we have the possibility of having a say in the future. Cheng Ping said.

After working for many years, Cheng Ping has never given up on improving welding technology. In order to improve his control over the breath, he repeatedly practiced welding on the blade. In April 2022, Cheng Ping relied on the stunt of "surfacing welding on the blade" to "three-in-one" of welding wire, welding consumables and original blades, and broadcast it as an excellent project in the second National Skills Competition.

As a "steel tailor", Cheng Ping dedicated his light and heat to the welding business. "It's either experimenting in the innovation studio, or it's welding on the front line. This is the impression that Cheng Ping left on his colleagues. Behind the honor, Cheng Ping takes the factory as his home and rarely spends time with his family. Cheng Ping is very grateful for his mother's support and encouragement: "Now that my mother is in her 70s, she is very happy every time she sees my medal, but she still tells me from time to time not to stop here, to have higher pursuits and ideals. ”

Love, extreme, rigorous, dedicated, innovative, this is Cheng Ping's best interpretation of the spirit of craftsmen. 26 years ago, the first welding rod was ignited in Cheng Ping's hands, as if igniting his belief in this job. The welding sparks are scorching, illuminating the way forward for this "great country craftsman".
