Recently, a Japanese think tank released a military report on China, claiming that Japan will strengthen its defense capabilities in order to prevent the mainland from taking over Taiwan.
Recently, Japan's Ministry of Defense's think tank "Defense Research Institute" released a much-watched report "China Security Strategy Report 2024". The report provides a detailed analysis of China's developments, pointing out that China is strengthening its nuclear forces, and that the confrontation between China and Russia and the United States will further intensify in the next 10 years. In the report, Japan's Institute for Defense Studies expressed concern about the build-up of China's power and emphasized the strategic coordination between China and Russia. They believe that such a collaborative relationship will have a significant impact on Japan's security. Therefore, they called on Japan to strengthen its own defense forces to meet the possible challenge from China. In addition, the report highlights the need for Japan to do more to prevent Chinese mainland from changing the status quo in the Taiwan Strait. This shows that Japan is paying more attention to the Taiwan Strait region and is making it an important aspect of its defense strategy. This so-called "China-related report" is obviously aimed at intensifying the exaggeration of the "China threat theory". This is the same as the Pentagon's previous report on China, which is aimed at finding a pretext for Japan to strengthen its military power and strengthen its layout around China. At the same time, they also point the finger at China, trying to blame China for the root cause of all problems. 
In recent years, Japan's military spending has increased for 12 consecutive years, and this trend is further reflected in the 2024 budget. According to the budget released by the Japanese Ministry of Defense, Japan's defense budget increased by 14% compared with the previous year, from $46.5 billion to $53 billion. This figure is not only impressive, but also gives us a deeper understanding of Japan's ambitions. This data is enough to show that it is untenable for Japan to use China as an excuse for increasing its military spending. These measures are undoubtedly aimed at satisfying their own ambitions, not at maintaining peace and stability in the region. China also responded to Japan's military report. Wang Wenbin, my spokesman, said that the report of the Japanese think tank is completely arbitrary commentary on China, and the relevant remarks are irresponsible and untenable. This response fully demonstrates China's concern and wariness about Japan's military spending. To sum up, Japan's military spending increase is not to maintain regional peace and stability, but to satisfy its own ambitions. China's military spending, on the other hand, is driven by a necessity for its own security. Therefore, we must not be deceived by Japan's excuses, but should remain vigilant and sober-minded.
