The Faroe Islands Premier League is the highest level of football in the Faroe Islands and is organised and managed by the Faroe Islands Football Federation (FFF). The league was founded in 1942 and since then it has been the heart of Faroe Islands football.
In the Faroe Islands Premier League, a total of 10 teams compete and play a two-legged match each season. At the end of the season, the champions, runners-up and relegation places are determined based on the team's standings. The champion team will qualify for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, while the runners-up team will qualify for the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. In addition, the last and second-to-last teams will be relegated to the next division of the league.
Although the Faroe Islands are a country with a small population, their football league has a certain international presence.
