After seven years, one revered name has once again made the Forbes annual list of American charities: the Black College Union** (UNCF). The Association is a nearly 80-year-old, Washington-based, nonprofit organization that raises scholarships for historically black private colleges and universities. In 2023, the UNCF has raised 3The $5.4 billion in donations, almost six times more than in the last year before the pandemic (2019), was enough to place it at No. 58 on this year's list. Much of this growth comes from society's growing concern about racial equity issues and recognition of the role that Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the UNCF play in promoting economic mobility.
