Causes and solutions to road waterlogging

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-01-30

Causes of road waterlogging:

1. The corresponding rainwater inlet or rainwater inlet communication pipe is blocked;

2. The terrain is low-lying, the return period of the system design is short, or the downstream pipe network is blocked, the drainage is not enough, and the upstream rainwater collects here

3. During the flood period, the water level of the river rises, the terrain is low-lying, and the river water backs up.

Workaround:

If only one of the causes of road water accumulation is considered, the effectiveness is often limited. An urban stormwater drainage system will comprehensively encounter the water accumulation caused by the above problems. In the case that the pipeline network cannot be rebuilt on a large scale in the short term, the following methods can be adopted to solve and warn:

1. Clean the rainwater inlet regularly

Due to man-made or environmental factors, fallen leaves, garbage, etc. are often abandoned in the rainwater inlet, if they are not cleaned for a long time, it is not only easy to cause blockage to the rainwater inlet, but also will have a functional impact on the rainwater pipe network. At present, the clean-up method is mainly limited to manual cleaning, which requires a lot of manpower and material resources, so it also needs to be properly publicized and warned. During the road flooding period, the water level of the upstream and downstream rainwater mains of the waterlogged road section can be observed to quickly determine whether the cause of the water accumulation is caused by the rainwater inlet or the blockage of the rainwater inlet connecting pipe.

2. Adopt the pipe network water level early warning system

Timely monitoring of the flow and water level of each pipeline node of the urban rainwater drainage system, and set up the corresponding water level early warning, when the water level in the pipeline is rapid but has not yet overflowed the ground, the terminal equipment will issue an alert, and display it in the corresponding terminal alarm device in the central control room.
