Former Stockton Kings Development League player Chance Comanche allegedly pleaded guilty to strangling a woman near Las Vegas earlier this month, according to court records obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The Las Vegas Police Department said at the time that Comanche, 27, had been arrested last week for a "plan" related to the disappearance of a woman named Marayna Rodgers and would face public charges. Comanche is a former University of Arizona big man who went on to play for the Memphis Bunch and Canton Stormtroopers in the Development League. Comanche is accused of "kidnapping" Rogers along with his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, Sakkary Harden.
According to the Associated Press, Comanche was detained in Sacramento, California, and "he described the ** case in which Rogers was charged to Las Vegas detectives in affidavit." He appeared in Sacramento County Court on Tuesday and "agreed not to object to his transfer to Nevada," according to the Associated Press.
Harden is also facing charges and is currently being held in Las Vegas without bail, according to **.
According to Comanche's testimony obtained by the Associated Press, he and Haardon strangled Rogers together in the early hours of Dec. 6. According to the Associated Press, Hahnden and Rogers are both sex workers and have been at odds over an expensive watch. Comanche and Harden allegedly devised a plan for him to pretend to be a sex client, tie Rogers' hands behind his back, according to testimony, and then Comanche strangled Rogers with a rope and Harden's hands.
According to **, the two left Rogers' body in a ditch on the side of the road.
Comanche's lawyer, Michael Goldstein, told reporters outside the courtroom that he could not "comment on the substance of any statements made to law enforcement" and that they would "let the Nevada courts take care of the matter," according to the Associated Press.
The police department said in a press release last week that detectives found human remains in Henderson, Nevada, which was later identified as Rogers based on information obtained after Comanche and Harden. It was learned that Rogers had a pre-arranged meeting with Harnden and Comanche on December 5, but had never seen or heard from her again before she was reported missing on December 7.
Comanche played a game for the Portland Trail Blazers in April before rejoining Stockton for the 2023-24 season. He has made 11 appearances this season, five of which have been started. Comanche was later cut by the Kings.
