Life is full of travel (42).[Military Documentary**].
OriginalFollow Lao Xie to travel (veteran Lao Xie).
In July 1985, I officially graduated from the Staff Department of the PLA Advanced Logistics School, and at the same time, I was selected as an outstanding graduate of the Staff Department.
A week before the graduation ceremony, I received a notice from Captain Li of the cadet team that Director Xu of the staff department wanted to talk to me.
I was confused, and I came to Director Xu's office with apprehension, and found that Director Xie from the Staff Teaching and Research Office was also present.
In fact, during my time as a student, I came to the offices of these two leaders more than once. But at that time, I was mainly here as a student representative, participating in discussions on teaching reform and researching and writing academic articles.
This is the first time in two years that I have been formally interviewed by the leader.
Director Xu Longan of the General Staff Department is a native of Shandong, and although he is the head of the school, he is usually modest, kind-mannered, and has no leadership frame.
The teachers and students in the department know that Director Xu attaches great importance to the teaching reform and logistics academic research work of the staff department.
Xie Derong, director of the teaching and research department, is a native of Guangxi, and he is a veteran of the military academy with deep qualifications, rich teaching experience and deep academic attainments.
Director Xu said to me in a gentle tone: "Based on your academic Xi and work performance in the past two years in school, after the recommendation of the cadet team and the study of the Party Committee of the Staff Department, and the approval of the school, it has been decided to let you stay in school and work. Now it's time to ask for your personal opinion. ”
At this time, Director Xie of the Teaching and Research Department, who was sitting on the side, took over and explained to me in detail three reasons why the leaders of the staff department decided to let me stay at the university to work:
First, before I entered the university, I had more than five years of work experience as a staff officer in a military organ at and above the division level, and I had accumulated a wealth of work experience in the army. This will be a valuable asset for those who will be engaged in staff teaching work in the future.
Second, during my tenure as the class leader of the cadets, all the work in the class was carried out quite well. I have an excellent score rate of more than 80% in all subjects, and the school needs excellent graduates of this quality.
Third, during the two-year study Xi period, I actively participated in the teaching reform of the staff department, took the initiative to carry out military academic research, and published more than 10 articles on logistics in journals inside and outside the military.
Then, the old director of the teaching and research department who has the same surname as me said very emotionally: "I, the old Xie, welcome you, Xiao Xie, to work in our teaching and research department. I believe that in the teaching position of the college, you will have a new space to display your talents. ”
Finally, Director Xu also revealed an important information to me: According to the school's reward policy, for me, an officer who has won the title of outstanding graduate cadet, I can be promoted to a first-level position in advance after staying in the school, and I will be assigned corresponding separate housing. Family members can also immediately go through the formalities of being transferred to Wuhan City.
After graduation, it is a very fortunate thing for many students to be selected as a candidate to stay on as a teacher. This is not only the school's affirmation of a student's Xi in school, but also a full trust in his future work.
I am very grateful for the importance and trust of the leaders of the school and the staff department.
Before that, I was faced with three choices after graduation:
The first is to continue to return to work at the headquarters of the Logistics Department of the Shenyang Military Region. At that time, Deputy Director Liu, who was working in the office of the Shenhou Headquarters, had been promoted to the director of the direct work section of the headquarters. Before I was about to graduate, he wrote to me, hoping that I would continue to work in Shenhou after graduation.
The second is to continue to return to the work of the Ninth Garrison Division of the Shenyang Military Region. This is my old unit, and naturally there are no obstacles.
Those of you who have read the previous articles know that although I have worked in the Shenyang Military Region for nine years, I have a deep affection for the northeast. But due to family reasons, returning to work in the Northeast is no longer an option for me to consider.
The third is to work with troops transferred to the Central Plains. After being introduced by my comrades-in-arms, I got to know Director Gu of the Logistics Department of the 20 th Group Army stationed in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, and after learning about my situation, he said that he would very much welcome me to work in the War Service Department of the Logistics Department of the 20 th Group Army after graduation.
Because Kaifeng is the closest city to my hometown, going to work in the 20th Group Army was my main first choice after graduation.
Now, I am fortunate enough to be selected to stay on as a teacher, which makes it seem that I am faced with a difficult choice about where I want to work after graduation.
Finally, after much thought, given my hobby of teaching and research, and the fact that Wuhan is not too far from my hometown. Moreover, considering that he can also take advantage of the job opportunities in military academies, he can continue his studies and Xi, and it is conducive to his academic research in military logistics. In the end, I decided to accept the option of staying on to teach.
However, due to the fact that I was not very accustomed to the climate and cultural environment of Wuhan, after discussing with my family, I decided not to join the army for the time being.
In addition to me, there were two other cadets from our Second Staff Team who stayed on to work. One is Lao Meng, the captain of the first district, who was assigned to the school training base to do management work; The other is Chen, the elder of the third class, who was assigned to the school's academic affairs office as a staff officer.
In August 1985, I was officially appointed as a deputy battalion instructor in the staff department of the PLA Advanced Logistics School, and was assigned to the logistics training and teaching group of the staff teaching and research department.
The school allocated me a 20-square-meter single-room dormitory that month, and since then I have started a new career as a military academy instructor......
Since I entered the military Xi academy two years ago, I have been insisting on writing well in addition to my busy classes.
However, during this period, a new change took place in my creative direction, from the original writing of news reports to the research and writing of academic articles on military logistics.
During my time at the university, I wrote several academic research articles on military logistics, which were published in academic journals on campus and at headquarters. These academic articles are mainly concerned with the study of military logistics work in peacetime logistics management and wartime logistics support.
The publication of these articles not only brought me a little fame, but also attracted the attention of the leaders of the staff department and the teaching and research department.
In the mid-80s of the last century, a tide of reform began to emerge in all aspects of the armed forces. As one of the student representatives, I have participated in many research projects on teaching reform organized by the General Staff Department.
In addition to classes, I often come to the office of the head of the department and the teaching and research department of the staff department, and work with the leaders and veteran faculty members of the staff department to formulate research topics, discuss research ideas, establish research content, and write manuscripts for research articles.
After the department leaders and the teaching and research department collectively discussed and put forward suggestions for revision, I completed the final draft of the research articles and finally submitted them to the relevant academic journals of the headquarters and military academies for publication.
During my two years as a Xi in the staff department, I drafted more than 10 academic research articles in the name of the department leaders or under my own signature. Among them, "Several Opinions on the Teaching Reform of Logistics Staff Officers" published in the academic journal of the university;Articles such as "Brief Views on the Reform of Logistics Documents" have been highly valued by the school leaders and have been reflected in the teaching reform.
My graduation **, "Computer Processing of Combined Logistics Combat Documents," is a research article that expounds the methods of using computer database technology to deal with logistics support in various combat forms.
In today's terms, this is a theoretical attempt to use the basic AI technology at the computer level at that time to solve the complex problem of logistics support data in wartime.
This article was first rated as an excellent graduation by the Higher School of Logistics** and was soon published in the journal Logistics Research.
What I didn't expect was that this graduation ** later attracted the attention of the training department of the academy in charge of the General Logistics Command.
Shortly after the opening of the school year in the fall of 1985, the Senior Logistics School received a notice from the higher authorities to let our school take this article as a case and take the lead in opening a new attempt to defend the first in the logistics command colleges and universities of the whole army.
At this time, the batch of students of the 85th class of our staff department had already graduated and returned to their respective units, and I had just taken up my post as a military academy instructor.
One day, I suddenly received a notice from the school's training department, asking me to continue to serve as a staff officer again, and the school organized relevant experts to conduct a graduation defense for me.
At that time, the current batch of cadre cadets of our school majoring in command and staff officers were the first batch of academic education students in the army's command academies. Although graduation is an assignment that every student must complete, the form of defense has not yet been carried out that year.
So, I became the first person to eat crabs.
For the first graduation defense meeting organized by the senior post-school, the school was personally responsible for the vice president in charge of teaching, General Xie Rengui, the training department of the school took the lead in organizing, and the relevant leaders and senior teachers of the command department and the staff department, the school's basic teaching and research department, and the computer teaching and research department formed a defense expert group of more than ten people.
This **defense meeting, specifically for my graduation**, I am the only respondent.
The school's electronic classroom sent someone to video the whole defense meeting.
Because of this graduation of mine, it belongs to the cross-border field of military logistics and computer technology. Although the viewpoint is very new and forward-looking, I know that there are still problems such as relative weakness and superficiality in the argument and the logic of the argument.
In the face of such a high-level leadership panel to defend myself, I was still timid at first. But as the defense progressed, I realized that this concern was too much.
Because this graduation defense is only for me, it is an experimental attempt by the school, and the main purpose is to explore a new model of educational reform in logistics command colleges.
In other words, the defense will be mainly a demonstration, and the form of the defense will be greater than the content.
In addition, the ** I wrote is also a new topic for these expert groups participating in the defense meeting.
At that time, microcomputer technology was still in the initial stage of the basic language, and the application of computers in the field of military command of military units had just begun.
For these senior experts in the field of military logistics, they have not yet come into contact with the new system of tools of computer technology.
As for the instructors of the defense group who have just been transferred to our university from the National University of Defense Technology and are engaged in computer teaching, their professional knowledge in the field of military logistics is only at a rudimentary level.
Therefore, for my graduation article involving the integration of two different fields, these experts have not been able to raise some substantive questions and professional questions for the time being.
In the first defense, I answered some uncomplicated questions raised by experts and leaders. The experts' comments on my article are more of a pertinent evaluation and enthusiastic encouragement.
I still remember Vice President Xie's concluding remarks at the defense meeting.
He commented that my graduation ** was novel and in the right direction. Although there are still problems of imperfect arguments and argumentation methods, at least in the initial integration of military logistics and computer technology, a research space with practical value has been opened up, which is worthy of affirmation and further promotion.
In conclusion, he stressed: This defense meeting has set a precedent for the reform of education in the military's middle-level logistics command academies. In the future, this form of defense meeting should be gradually carried out in an all-round way among the graduates of all departments of the university.
According to the comrades in the school's electronic classroom, as the first graduation defense of our army's logistics command academy, the entire videotape of the defense meeting was soon sent to the archives of the General Logistics Headquarters for archiving.
In the autumn of 1985, in the second month after I stayed at the university, I served as the main instructor of the logistics training Xi course of the Staff Teaching and Research Department, and the target of the lecture was the cadres and cadets of the command department and the staff department.
In the early 80s of the last century, after Comrade ** presided over the work of the Central Military Commission, according to his judgment of the changes in the international and domestic situation, a new change took place in our army's military strategic policy, which changed from "active defense and luring the enemy into depth" to "active defense."
In June 1985, the Central Military Commission (CMC) convened an enlarged meeting and proposed a major strategic change in the guiding ideology for army building, that is, to shift the army's work from a state of readiness for war based on "early strike, major war, and nuclear war" to the track of peacetime construction.
The focus of the army's combat readiness training should also be shifted to the strategic guiding ideology for dealing with local wars under high-tech conditions.
In order to adapt to this change, the teaching policies and teaching methods of the training and Xi courses of our military academies and universities are facing the transformation requirements of immediate adjustment and reform.
As soon as I took over the teaching task of this course, I encountered such difficulties: the old textbook is not applicable, and the new textbook has not come out, how should this course be taught?
At the teaching discussion meeting of the Staff Teaching and Research Department, I put forward my own teaching ideas: That is, before the General Headquarters issues the new training program for troops, the logistics training and Xi course should mainly focus on publicizing the new strategic principles of the Central Military Commission, opening up the thinking of cadres and trainees, and how to carry out the reform of the troops' logistics training and Xi under the new situation.
This suggestion of mine has been endorsed by the leaders of the staff teaching and research department and the veteran instructors.
Director Xie assigned me to write a lecture note, and then the school and department leaders and experts listened to my trial lecture first, and then implemented it in actual teaching after it was passed.
As a result, I worked overtime for several days and nights, repeatedly studied the resolutions of the Central Military Commission meetings, consulted a large number of materials in academic journals of our army and foreign armies, and combined with the actual combat readiness training experience I had accumulated in the army, I wrote a course outline of nearly 20,000 words.
The content of the lecture outline mainly reflects the following five main points:
1. Have a clear understanding of the changing characteristics of the current international situation and the new challenges facing our military
2. Deeply understand the essence of the change in the strategic guiding ideology put forward by the Central Military Commission;
3. Truly understand the new operational patterns and new logistical support means of modern local warfare
4. Objectively find out the shortcomings and shortcomings of our army's troops' logistical training and Xi at the present stage
Fifth, emancipate the mind, carry out reforms and innovations, and narrow the gap between our army and foreign armies in logistical training as soon as possible with the goal of meeting the requirements of modern warfare.
This lecture syllabus is basically detached from the content originally stipulated in the school's logistics training syllabus. This is like opening a new curriculum, and this attempt at reform has attracted the attention of the school at once.
Under the circumstances, this kind of teaching content that deviated from the original syllabus was a certain pedagogical risk for the school.
Vice President Xie, who was also in charge of teaching, personally talked to me, and convened the relevant leaders and senior faculty members of the command department, staff department, and academic affairs office of the university, and listened to the trial lectures of me, a young faculty member who had just stayed at the university, twice.
After that, Vice President Xie organized a discussion on the curriculum reform attempt of the Staff Department.
After listening to my lecture on the course, these leaders and senior instructors put forward specific suggestions for revising the outline of the teaching handouts I had written, paragraph by paragraph. He also carefully and meticulously taught me face-to-face about the teaching methods of a young teacher, the key control in the classroom, and the rhythm of the lecture language.
In the end, Vice President Xie made a final decision, and my course was approved to be officially ...... to the cadres and students of the two departments
More than 30 years have passed, and I still admire some old leaders and experts who emancipated their minds, dared to be the first, had the courage to innovate, and supported newcomers in that era of reform and opening up.
At that time, the growth and progress of me, a young military academy instructor, in the teaching post of the senior logistics school, was inseparable from their trust and support at every step.
After the official opening of my course by the cadre cadet corps of the Command Department and the Staff Department, the enthusiastic response from the cadets was beyond my imagination.
Most of the trainees of these command and staff departments are battalion, company, and platoon cadres from the logistics departments of the whole army, who have rich work experience and are extremely active in thinking.
Originally, they had a lot of opinions on some outdated teaching materials and teaching methods in military academies. There are very strong calls for curriculum reform in military academies.
My lecture + discussion style of lectures makes them feel refreshed. In particular, the reaction to the study and Xi discussion of the change of our military's strategic guiding ideology was even more enthusiastic and positive than I could have imagined.
At that time, the Senior Logistics School implemented a concentrated morning class with instructors giving lecturesIn the afternoon, classes are divided into self-Xi and tutored by instructors.
Every afternoon when I came to the Xi classroom, these students came one after another and had a lively discussion with me about the topic of the course I taught in the morning.
People are gossiping, and the atmosphere is not lively.
In the course of teaching this course, I also got to know many cadres and cadets from the army, and I was very touched by their recognition of me as a young instructor.
A few years later, several of the cadets became colleagues and comrades-in-arms in my unit.
I remember that many years later, when I went to Beijing on a business trip, at the table where my comrades-in-arms at the headquarters entertained me, an old alumnus who served as a leading cadre in a certain department of the General Logistics Department made a special trip to see me.
When I was teaching at the school, he was a cadet in the school's command department.
During the dinner, he told me emotionally that during his two years of studying Xi at Wuhan Senior High School, he was most impressed by the courses I taught. The ideas and content of the lectures I gave back then had a profound impact on his thinking and the development of his career.
He also exaggerated a little to say that the progress of his later career was also due to my contribution to his ideological enlightenment.
To be honest, the more than one year I was a military academy instructor was also the period when I learned Xi and explored the most.
At the end of 1985, the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the school and the renaming of the school were launched at the same time, and the "Advanced Logistics School" was officially renamed the "Military Economics Academy".
In the commemorative book printed by the school, I was also included in the first batch of faculty members of the renamed "Military Economic College".
At the same time, the military command school conducted the first professional title evaluation, and I was rated as a lecturer by the school.
This year, I am approaching the year of standing.
However, following the disarmament of the whole army by 1 million, the work of streamlining and restructuring military academies and academies has also begun under the unified arrangements of the Central Military Commission General Headquarters.
Beginning in 1986, the military academies began to be re-separated and integrated. This reform also involves our newly renamed Military Economic Academy.
In this case, a new job choice was quickly placed in front of me......
To be continued, stay tuned).
