For example, if a friend comes to ask you to do business, this motive, that is, this initial cause, we have to pay attention, maybe it is a good cause, maybe it is an evil cause, if it is an evil cause, even if you are called the chairman, you will be the one who will be imprisoned in the future, then this cause should be paid attention to, so the bodhisattva is afraid of this cause. And the 'ordinary people' are afraid of the consequences, like the death row prisoner who regrets it when it is executed, and he is afraid of the consequences when it comes. People who really need to pay attention to learning should do everything well when they have motivation, that is, as I just said, it is better to have a good start than to have a good result, that is, to start with caution and ......Therefore, the meaning of 'chasing the long end with caution' is that it is better to have a good start than a good result, and there is a saying in Western culture: 'A good start is half the battle.' That's the same thing. When everyone understands this truth, then 'the people's morality is good', and the atmosphere of social morality is naturally attributed to kindness and rigor. ”
