As a Jiangjin person, the deepest impression is that when the waterway of the Qihe River swells in the summer, it floods the shops and houses facing the street, and this problem has not been properly solved, and no one pays attention to it.
Some friends heard about the development of shipping in the Qihe River, and thought that the amount of water in the dry season in winter was relatively small, but they thought that the significance of the Qihe River shipping to cope with the summer floods was greater, and the residents on the banks of the Qihe River in Jiangjin had a deep experience, so they thought that the people of Jiangjin had no reason not to support the project in Qijiang. Originally, Jiangjin was separated from Qijiang River. Whether the China-Singapore Chongqing hub port can be settled in Jiangjin can also be seen as an opportunity.
In April 2021, the Water Transport Institute of the Planning and Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport went to Qijiang to investigate the development of the Qihe waterway. Visited Qiaohe Industrial Park, conducted field research on the waterway and Qiaohe lock of the Beidu Aluminum Industrial Park, gained an in-depth understanding of the water flow, avionics development, and water transportation status of the Qihe River, exchanged and discussed the industrial development plan of the Qijiang River, the comprehensive utilization of the Qihe River, and the development plan of the Qihe River, and vigorously promoted the implementation of the comprehensive development project of the Qihe Waterway. The Qi River is a first-class tributary of the right bank of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, with a total area of 7,068 square kilometers, and the comprehensive development of the Qihe River waterway is very necessary.
Personally, I believe that if the Qihe River shipping can be successfully developed, it will play an important role in the economic development of Guangxing, Xiaba, West Lake, Zhiping and Pioneer along the Jiangjin route. Reviving the former port economy, Qijiang will also increase economic exchanges with Jiangjin, and the inflow of population and infrastructure will increase, thereby consolidating Jiangjin's economic position in southern and western Chongqing.
In the 2020 environmental impact assessment of the water energy resources development plan (revision) of the Qijiang River Basin, the development of water energy resources in the Qijiang River Basin covers the main stream of the Qijiang River and the Chongqing section of the Zaodu River, Fuhuan River, Pu River, Yangdu River, Fulin River, Dingshan River, Zhenzi River, Guofu River, Qingxi River, Jianxi River and other tributaries. As an important shipping channel of the Yangtze River system in Chongqing, the main stream of the Qijiang River is still in the preliminary research stage, and the local transportation and shipping authorities have not yet determined the final shipping development plan of the main stream of the Qijiang River.

Speed up the improvement of the highway network and build a "two horizontal and four vertical" highway network. Research and promote the comprehensive development and utilization of the Qihe River waterway, planning and construction of a number of first-class take-off and landing points. Water transport strives to start the cascade canalization of the Qihe waterway (Jiangkou to Qiaohe section), and actively promotes the preliminary work of cascade canalization of the Qihe waterway (Qiaohe to the water rush section).
The Journal of Chongqing Jiaotong University has published an article "Analysis of the Hydrological Characteristics of the Qijiang River and Its Influence on the Canalization Project", which analyzes and demonstrates the feasibility of the Qijiang River Canalization Project and the development and utilization of water resources. The Qijiang River basin is located at 106°15 east longitude'~107°15', 28°18 N'~29°19'。It is adjacent to Yipin River and Wubu River in the north, and Wujiang River and Chishui River in the east and west. The basin has superior natural conditions, numerous resources, abundant river runoff resources and convenient transportation, and has gradually developed into one of the important industrial bases in Chongqing. In order to correctly understand and estimate the water resources of the Qijiang River and speed up the construction of river canalization projects and other water conservancy projects, it is of great practical significance to study the hydrological characteristics of the Qijiang River in depth.
Floods occur frequently in the Qijiang River Basin, and they are characterized by long flood peak duration, large floating objects, and large sedimentation volume of the riverbed, and water damage and siltation of shipping hubs occur from time to time. In July 2023, the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Bureau replied to Recommendation No. 0219 of the First Session of the Sixth Municipal People's Congress in a reply to some of the progress of the project.
