Socotra Island is located in the western part of the Indian Ocean, belonging to the Yemeni province of Socotra, the archipelago consists of 4 islands, the archipelago covers an area of 3,650 square kilometers, and the main island covers an area of 3,635 square kilometers. Socotra is an isolated island with a unique ecology, with a total of 825 species of organisms, of which 37% of plants, 90% of reptiles and 95% of snails are unique to the island.
Among them, the dracaena resembles a flying saucer, and the Adenium socotranum resembles an elephant's legs and produces pink flowers. The island's bird species include the Socotra Starling, the Socotra Sunbird and the Socotra Robe Beak, which are also endemic to the island, in addition, bats are the only indigenous mammals on the island.
In 2010, the Russian archaeological team found the ruins of an ancient city in the 2nd century A.D. on the island, which is located on the edge of the Gulf of Aden in Yemen, and has been isolated from the continental plate for 18 million years. The island has limited infrastructure and no roads, but there are numerous caves and some shipwreck sites on the island.
