Autumn and Winter Check-in Challenge
In addition to seizing the Inspiration Building of the former Finance Minister Dyne's family, the Malaysian Anti-** Committee is currently investigating overseas assets related to Dyne. The investigation focused on how Dyne acquired these assets.
According to the Malaysian Herald Newspaper, the current investigation into Dyne is focused on how he acquired the assets and businesses.
"In addition to Inspiration Building, the authorities are also investigating properties such as overseas hotels and banking institutions related to Dyne," the source said. MACC has so far identified some real estate, banks or businesses (owned by Dyne) and some are yet to be identified, especially abroad.
MACC chairman Azanbaki confirmed the progress of the investigation but declined to comment further on the case. It is understood that the MACC investigation found that the owner of the Inspiration Building was a company owned by Dyne's wife and son, and then announced the seizure.
Ajanbaki revealed earlier that the MACC seized the Inspiration Building to prevent it from changing hands during the investigation. The MACC will not interfere with the normal operation of the building.
"If real estate is involved in our investigation into allegations of abuse of power, we can invoke the MACC Act 2009 to apply to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for seizure of the property," he said. ”
He emphasised that MACC investigations have been conducted with the same procedure for a long time and therefore the seizure of the Inspiration Building was not an exceptional case.
MACC's seizure is believed to be related to a transaction involving RM2.3 billion (about S$657 million) in 1997.
At the time of the Asian financial crisis, UEM, which has close ties to UMNO, acquired Renong Group.326% stake, triggering investors to sell their shares and causing the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index to be **20% at one point. Dyne was accused of being the leader of the deal.
