During the shutdown period, the concrete structure of more than 1,000 tons is lifted as a whole by means of a large module truck, and then installed by means of module transportation. ”

Before retrofitting. No. 7 electric furnace and No. 8 electric furnace are the objects of low-carbon and energy-saving transformation of billet electric furnaces, and the age of these electric furnaces has been almost 30 years. However, as a short-process steelmaking process, electric furnace steelmaking has the advantages of high production efficiency and strong flexibility, so it is widely used in the metallurgical industry. The technical transformation of the old electric furnace is to empower the short-process steelmaking process that has been used for many years, so that it is not only efficient, but also energy-saving and low-carbon.

The relevant person in charge of the electric furnace factory of the steel pipe strip steel division of Baosteel told reporters: "There are three main technical means for the transformation, one is to complete the horizontal continuous feeding, the second is the preheating of scrap steel, and the other is waste heat." Judging from the data of the enterprise, the energy consumption of supply and demand after the transformation will be 16 kg of standard coal per ton of steel compared with that of the electric furnace before the transformation. At this level, the annual reduction in standard coal consumption is about 160,000 tons. ”

It is understood that traditional electric furnace steelmaking uses "60% scrap + 40% molten iron" as the raw material for steelmaking, and the carbon content in molten iron is relatively high. Therefore, the key to reducing carbon emissions is to reduce or stop using hot metal ingredients. In addition, what kind of electricity is used is also a major factor that affects the level of carbon emissions.

The project started on May 22, 2023 and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation on June 28, 2024.
