Yueyang Evening News (correspondent Peng Zhan).On December 5, Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Co., Ltd. realized the industrial production of iron-based branched butadiene rubber for the first time in China, and realized commercial application in the high-performance tire manufacturing (ultra-high-performance UHP tire manufacturing) project jointly developed by Qingdao Sen Kirin Tire Company and Qingdao Institute of Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which effectively promoted the transformation of new iron-based branched butadiene rubber materials in Sen Kirin, and completed the first batch of more than 40,000 high-performance tires, all of which passed the quality control test, with direct sales revenue of more than 10 million yuan.

Since the beginning of this year, Sinopec Chemical Sales Co., Ltd. has adhered to the combination of production, marketing, research and application, actively promoted the development and application of Baling Petrochemical iron-branched butadiene rubber in downstream tire enterprises, and realized commercial application in the high-performance tire manufacturing demonstration project of iron-based branched butadiene rubber jointly developed by Shandong Haohua Tire and Qingdao Institute of Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and produced more than 30,000 high-performance tires in the first batch, creating sales revenue of 10 million yuan.

Iron-based branched butadiene rubber has achieved two manufacturing demonstrations of 10,000 high-performance tires during the year, marking that the technology has real commercial value. The commercial application of this product in high-performance tires is expected to improve the technical level and competitiveness of China's tire material industry in the international market, and is of great significance to serve the development of the national economy.

In recent years, the Qingdao Institute of Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has cooperated with Baling Petrochemical, Linglong Tire, Sen Kirin Tire, Haohua Tire and other leading scientific and technological enterprises to develop and synthesize new iron-based catalysts and create new synthetic rubber with independent intellectual property rights.

As a new material with great potential for the development of high-performance tires, the creation, synthesis and application technology of iron-based branched butadiene rubber won the "Excellence Award in the Finals" of the first National Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2021, and won the highest award in the second "First Cup" Future Technology Innovation Competition hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shenzhen People's University in 2022. In July 2023, the project passed the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and the overall technology of the project reached the international advanced level, and was selected as the first batch of "Shandong Good Achievements" by the Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology in September.
