Every time you boot up, you need to press F2 to enter the system, which can be an annoyance for many computer users. This kind of prompt is usually caused by some issue in the BIOS settings.

1. Understand the cause of the problem.

Before we can solve the problem, we first need to understand the reason for it. The prompt that you need to press F2 to enter the system to boot up may be caused by the following factors:

Your computer does not have a floppy drive installed or the floppy drive is faulty, but the floppy drive is enabled in the BIOS settings.

The CMOS battery on the motherboard may have run out, resulting in a loss of BIOS settings.

You have multiple hard disks or optical drives installed on your computer, and their boot order is not set correctly in the BIOS.

Second, the solution.

For different reasons, we can take corresponding solutions to cancel the prompt of pressing F2 on boot:

Restore BIOS Defaults: Go to the BIOS settings screen, find "Load Optimized Defaults" or similar option, select and save the settings. This will restore the default settings of the BIOS and may help resolve the issue.

Turn off floppy drive detection: In the BIOS settings, find the option related to the floppy drive (such as "Floppy Drive A" or "Floppy Drive Seek") and set it to "None" or "Disabled". Save the settings and exit the BIOS.

Replace the CMOS battery: Turn off the computer and disconnect the power supply. Open the computer case and find the CMOS battery (usually a round coin cell) on the motherboard. Gently remove it with a screwdriver or other tool and replace it with a new CR2032 coin cell battery. Reassemble the computer and boot it up, go to the BIOS to check if the settings have been restored.

Set the boot order of the hard disk and optical drive: In the BIOS settings, find the option related to the boot order (such as "Boot Order" or "Boot Priority"). Make sure the hard drive or solid-state drive (SSD) is at the top of the boot sequence. If you have more than one hard disk or optical drive, adjust their order as needed. Save the settings and exit the BIOS.
