Operation steps and precautions of tensile testing machine

Mondo Health Updated on 2024-01-29

The steps to operate a tensile testing machine are as follows:

1.Preparation: Make sure the power supply to the testing machine is turned on and set the appropriate test parameters, including test speed, maximum load capacity and maximum travel.

2.Install the sample: Clamp the sample to be tested on the fixture of the testing machine to ensure that the clamping force is uniform and the clamping is safe and reliable.

3.Start the test: Start the testing machine and let it apply a pull force to the sample. Depending on how the test is performed, different types of tests such as tensile, compression, bending, or shear can be performed.

4.Monitoring data: During the test, the magnitude of the tensile force and the deformation of the sample are monitored. Tensile testing machines are usually equipped with a data acquisition system that can record and display this data in real time.

5.End test: Depending on the needs of the test, the test can be stopped after a certain test time, displacement, or tensile force has been reached. After stopping the test, the tension is released and the sample is removed from the fixture.

Precautions:

1.Before operation, understand the safe operating procedures of the testing machine and wear the necessary personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves.

2.Make sure the grips and samples are installed correctly, and that the clamping force is uniform and the grip is secure. If the fixtures are incorrect or the clamping force is uneven, it may cause the sample to slip or incorrect test results.

3.Pay attention to the maximum load capacity and maximum stroke of the testing machine, and do not exceed its limits. Overloading or overtravel may result in damage to the testing machine or inaccurate test results.

4.Before performing the test, make sure that the sample is free of obvious defects or damage. Damaged samples may result in inaccurate test results or unexpected situations during the test.

5.When conducting the test, it is necessary to pay attention to the operating status of the testing machine and the deformation of the sample. If there is an abnormality, such as noise, vibration or abnormal deformation, the test should be stopped immediately and the cause of the failure should be checked.

6.After the test is completed, clean the machine and fixtures in time and restore them to their initial state for the next use.
