Zhang Lingfu has experienced three marriages in his life. He died when he and his third wife, Wang Yuling, were married for only a short period of two years. But under the rule of the Kuomintang at the time, she was forced to face the cold and unforgiving reality and could only choose to start a new life in a strange land. 
Zhang Lingfu was born in Shaanxi, and his family background is farmers. In those poor times, it was a blessing to be able to go to school. He cherished his time in the academy, and was later admitted to the Department of History of Peking University with excellent results. Although the future seemed bright, when he realized that what he had learned could not directly save his country, he decided to give up his studies and join the military. He underwent rigorous testing and scrutiny, and eventually became a student at the Whampoa Military Academy. After graduating, he remained in the Kuomintang army and participated in many important battles. On the battlefield, he was not afraid to face the enemy, and with his bravery and heroic fighting, he won the recognition and respect of his colleagues, and soon became an important general of the Kuomintang. While Zhang Lingfu bravely fought the enemy, Wang Yuling, who was only 9 years old, was displaced by the war with his family. Growing up under the protection of her family, she was ignorant of the brutality and atrocities of her enemies, thinking it was just a long journey. 
As she moved from one move to another, she witnessed countless scenes of war, and the sight before her was chilling—the cold corpses of her compatriots lying in the ruins left behind by enemy bombing. These innocent lives are her compatriots, how can she be indifferent to this?However, in order to protect her daughter, her mother resolutely prevented her from joining the army and serving her country. After the smoke of the Anti-Japanese War dissipated, Wang Yuling returned to his hometown. In this familiar land, she had her first encounter with Zhang Lingfu, although that encounter was not good. Although there were some misunderstandings between the two later, Zhang Lingfu's sincere attitude towards Wang Yuling gradually melted her heart and made her accept this feeling. Although Wang Yuling's mother did not agree to this marriage, at the insistence of her daughter, she finally acquiesced. However, their wedding was improvised, and Zhang Lingfu received a promotion order in an emergency. At the wedding in Shanghai, due to the rush of time, Wang Yuling and Zhang Lingfu's clothes were simple and hurried, and the size was slightly inappropriate. However, fortunately, the wedding still went very smoothly, and the two could be regarded as a beautiful dream. That night, they stepped on the train in Nanjing and started a new life. Although the war often separates the two, their relationship is indestructible. However, unfortunately, just a few days after Wang Yuling gave birth to the child, Zhang Lingfu died heroically in the Battle of Menglianggu. In order to take care of the only bloodline, Wang Yuling can only bravely stand up and work hard to make money to support his family while taking care of his children. 
After the Liberation War, she took her children to Taiwan, and later, under the recommendation of a friend, embarked on a journey to the United States to start a new life. Although the days of hard work in a foreign country are full of hardships, watching the child grow up day by day, Wang Yuling's heart is full of comfort and hope for the future. As a beautiful and talented woman, she was once persuaded to remarry, but she refused. In the depths of her heart, Zhang Lingfu's existence is still with her, and she can't forget it, and she doesn't want to forget it. As a result, she devotes all her energy to work and taking care of her children. After years of hard work, the child lived up to her expectations, became an outstanding entrepreneur, and found happiness in her love life, marrying Fang Xiaomei, a descendant of the famous anti-Japanese general. Seeing his son living a happy and healthy life, Wang Yuling was also very pleased. In her later years, Wang Yuling was invited by *** to return to her motherland after many years of absence. In 2003, Wang Yuling erected a tomb for Zhang Lingfu in Shanghai, and although his body has not yet been found, deep down in Wang Yuling's heart, she has always believed that she will find him sooner or later. In 2007, Wang Yuling came to Meng Lianggu, where Zhang Lingfu died bravely. She placed a bouquet of flowers in the cave where her husband was, and at the same time put in a piece of paper with the words "peaceful reunification" written on it. This is not only Zhang Lingfu's lifelong wish, but also the common wish of many Chinese sons and daughters.
