According to the Associated Press, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on December 1 that he had told Turkey Erdogan that it was "time" for Sweden to become a member of NATO.
The report pointed out that Turkey and Hungary are the only two NATO members that have not formally ratified Sweden's "accession."
Stoltenberg told The Associated Press that he met with Turkey** Erdogan on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai on December 1 and urged Turkey to complete the process.
"I met with Erdogan** this morning and reiterated my message that it is time to complete the process of Sweden's accession," Stoltenberg said. ”
Stoltenberg did not say when he expected Turkey's ratification process to be completed, the report said.
"I can't give an exact date, but I welcome the submission of the approval document by Erdogan to the Turkish parliament a few weeks ago," he said. Of course, the message I conveyed during my meeting today is that it is time to ensure that Parliament completes its deliberations and finally approves Sweden as a full member of NATO.
