Today's world is full of challenges, including geopolitical conflicts, energy crises, climate change and the global economic recession. Behind these challenges or chaos, we can also see the role and influence of the Western system. In the program "This is China" broadcast on December 4, Professor Zhang Weiwei, Dean of the Institute of China Studies at Fudan University, and Professor Fan Yongpeng, Vice Dean of Fudan University, analyzed the role and influence of the Western system behind the chaos in the world.
Fan Yongpeng mentioned in the discussion session that in fact, since the rise of modern capitalism, we can see a law, the biggest enemy of capitalism is itself, and the problems it creates will eventually become its own problems. In fact, it is a particularly short-sighted group, which does not have a holistic, co-ordinated and long-term vision when it comes to doing anything. Fan Yongpeng remembered that the American scholar Samuel Huntington said a particularly good thing, he said that our Western civilization can rise not because we are ahead of other civilizations in any aspect, but because we are ahead in only one aspectIt's called organized violence, it's the ability to fight.
On the other hand, we have been working tirelessly on the Belt and Road Initiative, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and many international public goods over the years. In fact, we Chinese have a saying that "there is a place for doing something", and in the process of doing it, it is gradually recognized by everyone, and this position is there. We do not do anything to see immediate benefits, but in the end it is beneficial to the world and ourselves, which is a higher wisdom.
