He is already an old man, but with his profound enthusiasm for education and forward-looking thinking, he is leading the trend of education reform. He is Mr. Tao Xiping, a member of the National Education Advisory Committee and an advisor to the National Inspector General of Schools.
Tao Xiping, born in Yiyang, Hunan Province in 1935, was admitted to the Department of History of Peking University in 1954, and then suspended his studies due to illness, and became a teacher in Beijing No. 9 Middle School in 1955. From an ordinary teacher to a middle school principal, to the director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the assistant to the mayor of Beijing, the deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress, and a member of the Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee of the National People's Congress, Tao Xiping has always maintained a far-sighted attitude and focused on the future of education development.
In the early days of reform and opening up, Tao Xiping, with the support of the higher-level party committee, actively tried out his reform plan, which laid a good foundation for the educational reform of the 12th Middle School. At the same time, he also actively promotes the healthy development of private education, and participates in the research, drafting and publicity of the Law on the Promotion of Private Education.
Tao Xiping not only pays attention to education reform, but also pays attention to educational equity. He wants every child to have access to a fair and quality education. In his view, educational equity has shifted from equity in access to equity in access to guaranteed quality education.
Tao Xiping not only has a forward-looking consciousness, but also has a practical spirit. He looks to the future as well as the present. Over the years, he has worked tirelessly and tirelessly, successively edited books such as "Dictionary of Educational Evaluation" and "Multiple Intelligences and Curriculum Reform Series", and authored "Let the Failure Rate Be Zero: Thinking and Practice of the Overall Reform of Education", "All the Way - Tao Xiping's Education Comics", "Immersed in Search", "Everyone is Different, Everyone is Happy", "Innovation in Reflection" and other books, these works reflect Tao Xiping's thinking on education in different periods.
In the past 60 years, what has supported Tao Xiping through the long years is his enthusiasm for education. He firmly believes that only through education reform can every child receive a fair and quality education. As one of his favorite poems reads: "Through the long years, I have returned, and I am still the head, and I am still the heart." ”
