Heroes are always worth remembering! In China's modern history, many brave and fearless generals and models of the times fought bloody battles in the flames of war, and the most touching of them is those generals who sacrificed their lives for the country. Looking back at the 1979 counterattack against Vietnam 40 years ago, although our army finally won the victory, it also suffered heavy losses. So, who is the top general of our army lost in this battle? That is the deputy division commander Zhao Lianyu.
Born into a poor family in Northeast China, Zhao Lianyu endured hardships as a teenager, but he showed amazing courage and determination in the midst of war, and became an outstanding military leader. Whether it was in the Tashan Resistance Battle or the Jinzhou Campaign, he left a glorious record, was frequently commended, and even accepted the personal review of the first chairman. In the counterattack against Vietnam, as the deputy commander of the 42nd Division of the 126th Army, Zhao Lianyu led the troops to advance bravely.
Despite being in a high position, he personally charged ahead, leading his troops to successfully complete missions many times, effectively striking at the enemy. However, tragedy still happened, although he did not die on the battlefield, but unfortunately was killed by enemy snipers while surveying the terrain at the age of 49. Together with Zhao Lianyu, the top general of our army who died in the counterattack against Vietnam, there was also Deputy Political Commissar Lin Fengyun, also from the 126th Division of the 42nd Army.
These heroic generals deserve our eternal remembrance and reverence. Lin Fengyun is a veteran general who has experienced many military meritorious awards, he made great achievements in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and even won two third-class meritorious service medals. However, during the counterattack against Vietnam, he led a tank regiment into a serious ambush.
Faced with the sudden crisis, Lin Fengyun jumped out of the armored car without hesitation, destroyed the confidential documents on his body, and then fought the enemy. Unfortunately, he was shot and died at the age of 51. His sacrifice not only revealed the shortcomings of our army's tank troops and infantry in their ability to fight together, but also made people deeply aware of the need for countless soldiers to defend peace with their lives and blood.
In the counterattack against Vietnam in 1979, our army lost many outstanding generals, including deputy division commanders Zhao Lianyu and Lin Fengyun, whose heroic deeds are worthy of our eternal forgetting. Let us cherish the memory of these heroes and cherish the hard-won peace and happy life.
