After the UN Security Council was unable to adopt a draft resolution on a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, the UN General Assembly resumed its emergency special session and unanimously adopted a draft resolution sponsored by Egypt. The resolution calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and calls on all parties to respect international and humanitarian law, with particular emphasis on the importance of the protection of civilians. In addition, the resolution calls for the release of all hostages and for humanitarian access to be ensured. The draft resolution was supported by 153 countries, with only 10 opposing it and 23 abstaining.

Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mahmoud, said that the adoption and implementation of the draft resolution was the only guarantee for the salvation of civilians. However, Israel's representative to the UN, Erdan, claimed that the resolution was shameful and accused the UN of supporting and exploiting the Palestinian people. He even questioned China and Russia what they would do if they were in Israel's position. Such accusations are undoubtedly unrealistic, because China and Russia have always adhered to the principles of restraint and self-defense. At the same time, the representative of Tunisia came forward to point out the Council's inaction and blamed the current humanitarian tragedy on the brutal aggression against the Palestinian people.

The adoption of the UNGA draft resolution on a humanitarian ceasefire, adopted by unanimity, demonstrates the growing dissatisfaction of the international community with Israel's aggression. While the United States and Israel strongly oppose the resolution, the vast majority of countries consider the draft resolution to be a necessary measure to maintain peace. The results of this vote show that most of the other countries that voted against it, except for the United States and Israel, are some vassals, while EU member states and Central and Eastern European countries chose to abstain, which may be out of consideration for the sake of face for the United States.

Needless to say, the general support of the international community for the humanitarian ceasefire resolution also exposes the reality of Israel's isolation. Israel's objection to the resolution claims that it does not condemn Hamas's terrorist acts or mention Hamas. However, for the international community, the emphasis on the protection of civilians and humanitarian access is the most critical issue. Israel's voice is increasingly isolated in the international arena, and the international community has reached a consensus on Israel's acts of aggression.

Despite the general support of the international community for the humanitarian ceasefire resolution, Israel has expressed concern about the double standards of some countries. They believe that there is a clear double standard on the part of certain countries with regard to Israel in relation to Palestine. In reality, however, the attitude of the international community towards Israel is based on universal respect for peace, human rights and international law. As an aggressor country, Israel has no right to exercise its right to self-defence, a view widely shared by the international community.

At the same time, Israel's questioning of China and Russia is untenable. China and Russia, which have always acted on the principles of restraint and self-defence, have not expressed support for the adoption of the Security Council draft resolution or condemned Israel's actions. Israel's questioning of China and Russia is clearly vexatious and has not been supported by other countries.

Calls for a humanitarian ceasefire are growing louder and louder, and the international community is increasingly dissatisfied with Israel's aggression. While the United States and Israel have expressed strong opposition to the resolution, Israel is increasingly isolated in the international arena. The consensus of the international community and Israel's fear of double standards have made Israel's position increasingly questionable. There is no doubt that a humanitarian ceasefire is an important measure for the protection of civilians, and any action aimed at peace should be supported and respected by the international community. Israel, on the other hand, should face up to the international community's accusations of aggression, put aside its prejudices and make a substantive contribution to peace and stability.
