In the early stage of the development of new energy vehicles, the industry is generally faced with three nos: one no charging technology, two no charging infrastructure, and three no charging standards. In order to solve these development problems, BYD took the lead in achieving a breakthrough in charging technology from 0 to 1, and self-developed AC and DC charging technologies in the household and public sectors at the vehicle end and pile end, providing a reference model for the national standard AC and DC charging standards, and also becoming the first batch of Chinese electric vehicle charging standard drafting units. BYD's five pioneering technologies solve the charging problem and give China's new energy vehicle charging technology a "root".
Charging has always been the most concerned pain point for new energy users, and it is also a key area of BYD's technological innovation and R&D investment, just to allow users to enjoy the leap in charging experience.
In the early stage of the popularization of new energy vehicles, in order to break through the technical ceilings of power, battery life, charging and other aspects, and create a more extreme electric vehicle experience for users, it is imperative to make technological breakthroughs in the high-voltage of electric vehicles. BYD took the lead in achieving a breakthrough in 2015 with the world's first 800V high-voltage platform for passenger cars, which was installed on models such as the Qin EV (2015 model) and the Tang DM (2015 model). This technology can accelerate to 100 kilometers in 4 seconds, have a pure electric range of up to 450 km, and increase the fast charging power to 60 kW, improving the user experience in all aspects. BYD's 800V high-voltage platform is 2-3 generations ahead of the industry, at that time, the passenger cars on the market were all low voltage, and only BYD was high voltage. Today, the industry is competing to enter the 800V high-voltage platform track.
Although the charging power of electric vehicles has been greatly improved by high-voltage models, at that time, 95% of the domestic low-voltage piles below 500V were incompatible with the charging of high-voltage models, which affected the charging efficiency. In order to solve this problem, BYD pioneered the world's first step-up charging technology, which completely realizes the compatibility of vehicle piles and fully adapts to all DC charging piles.
At present, there are only 2% of public supercharging piles with a current of more than 300A, and fast charging piles are widely popular, and supercharging piles are extremely scarce.
To this end, BYD has launched a rising current scheme that is more in line with China's charging conditions, and the world's first dual-gun overcharging technology for passenger cars, so that public fast charging piles can become supercharging piles in seconds, and they can be overcharged in a short period of time. Taking the DENZA N7 as an example, the maximum power of dual-gun supercharging can reach 230kW, and the public fast charging pile can be charged for 350 kilometers in 15 minutes.
It is necessary not only to continue fast, but also to be safe and fast. Because the uplift technology is more stringent for battery thermal management, BYD pioneered the world's first composite direct cooling technology, through the design of straight cold plates on both sides of the battery, as well as two sets of independent refrigerant control systems, the compensating runner design has been carried out, the cooling area of the battery has been increased by 100%, and the heat exchange capacity has been increased by more than 85%, escorting the safety of users with supercharging.
The northern winter is extremely cold, and the charging efficiency is slow. BYD pioneered the full-scene intelligent pulse self-heating technology, and realized the fast charging of cold cars at extremely low temperatures for the first time in the industry.
In the -30 extreme cold conditions, taking the DENZA N7 as an example, the all-scenario intelligent pulse self-heating technology increases the battery heating rate by 230% compared with the traditional solution, and reduces the battery full charging time by 30%, so that users in northern China can also enjoy a fast charging experience in winter.
Not only can it be self-heating when charging, but it can also intelligently start the self-heating technology in the parking and driving states to ensure the performance of the vehicle at extremely low temperatures.
Build a charging technology system that is more in line with the current national conditions, and continuously upgrade the user's full-scene charging experience.
With 20 years of technical accumulation and profound skills, BYD continues to innovate and invest in R&D to build a charging technology system that is more in line with the current national conditions.
