Recently, the "Jianghu convening order" issued by the United States has been unexpectedly embarrassing, and the "Guardians of Prosperity" action, which was originally claimed to be composed of 20 countries, has been ignored and rejected by many countries. Initially, in the name of the Houthi blockade of the Red Sea, the United States called on ships from various countries to participate in escort operations. The operation was allegedly supported by 11 countries, while nine others requested to remain anonymous after announcing their participation. In response to these unexpected developments, the countries that have been deterred have indicated that they do not want Israeli-linked ships to pass through and will therefore not participate in the operation.
To the embarrassment of the United States, some Western countries have openly stated that they have distanced themselves from the actions of the United States. NATO allies such as France and Italy, for example, have made it clear that their ships in the Red Sea will only be under the command of their own navies and will not be subject to the deployment of American forces. This can be described as a blatant repudiation of the United States, and further highlights the isolation of the United States in the international political arena.
Australia, on the other hand, is the biggest target of Operation Prosperity Guardian. Despite Australia's announcement of its participation in the operation, it refused to send ships and sent only a command team of just 11 people. Given that Australia is a core member of the "Five Eyes" alliance and the "Anglo-Saxon" group, the perfunctory attitude this time has shocked the United States. In the past, Australia has been one of the most active allies of the United States in international affairs, and this unusual move by Australia is a cause for thought.
Other countries, such as Bahrain and Seychelles, are involved only because of their dependence on U.S. security guarantees, rather than genuine support. Bahrain, where the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet is located, participated in the operation; And Seychelles, one of the least populated countries in the world, is only involved in the operation to provide port security.
As a result, the original 20-nation Operation Prosperity Guardian ended up with only nine ships, most of which came from the U.S. Navy, with only one ship each from the United Kingdom and Greece. This is undoubtedly a huge blow to the US military in the past.
The embarrassing situation of the "Prosperity Guardian" operation is not just an isolated incident, but reflects the US policy mistakes on the Middle East issue and the general antipathy of global hegemonism. The United States has been too partial to Israel and continues to impose punitive measures on the Palestinian people in Gaza, which has sparked widespread discontent in the Middle East and around the world.
As a matter of fact, the United States' blind bias in favor of Israel has aroused widespread opposition from countries in the Middle East as well as many Western countries. The ceasefire in Gaza and the call for a solution to the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, supported by many countries and regions, undoubtedly highlight the isolation of the United States in its Middle East policy. On this issue, almost all the countries of the international community support a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the humanitarian crisis in the region.
At a deeper level, the U.S. Middle East policy has aroused global concern and resentment. The United States' long-standing solipsistic and hegemonic practices have aroused widespread dissatisfaction and opposition around the world. Many problems are rooted in the inequity of the global political and economic order and the lack of attention to the interests of developing countries, and the United States is the initiator of this problem.
Taking the financial crisis and the Ukraine crisis as examples, the United States has adopted a beggar-thy-neighbor strategy, indiscriminately issuing currency and exporting inflation, which has directly led to great turmoil in the Middle East. Similar problems have arisen in Ukraine, which has plunged European countries into war. These problems have brought enormous benefits to interest groups in the United States, while the regions and people concerned have suffered enormously.
Previously, the rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran was a typical example of the desire of countries around the world to establish a just and reasonable new international political order that would safeguard the legitimate interests of developing countries. Only in this way can the world truly usher in peace and stability.
The most fundamental way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli issue is to return to the "two-state solution" of the United Nations, taking into account the legitimate interests and aspirations of all parties, so as to achieve peaceful coexistence and long-term stability between the two sides. Both Israel and Palestine have a firm stance on issues such as Jerusalem, and no politician will make concessions on these issues. However, the United States has always favored Israel, making it difficult to find a genuine solution to the Palestinian-Israeli issue.
All in all, the embarrassing situation of the US Operation "Prosperity Guardian" reflects its policy mistakes on the Middle East issue and the unpopularity of global hegemonism. The bias of the United States in favor of Israel and the lack of attention to injustice and interests on a global scale have led to turmoil in the Middle East and discontent and opposition on a global scale. The key to resolving these problems is to establish a just and rational new international political order, promote the interests of developing countries, and return to the "two-State solution" of the United Nations to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli issue.
