The Belt and Road Initiative is changing the pattern of global food supply

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. As an important starting point and force point for China to build a new pattern of opening up, grain is an important support for the construction of the "Belt and Road". Recently, the Belt and Road Modern Agriculture and Food Security Development Cooperation Summit Forum was held. The meeting focused on the "Belt and Road" initiative, summarized the experience and achievements of the food industry, and how to more actively participate in the opening up strategy and work together to contribute to the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road".

Over the past ten years, China has actively established food and agriculture cooperation mechanisms with countries and international organizations that jointly build the "Belt and Road", carried out food and agricultural investment in countries and regions in need, participated in the allocation of global food resources, promoted the interconnection of food logistics, strengthened exchanges, promoted technical exchanges, deepened industrial cooperation, and contributed Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to improve global food security and global nutrition.

The majority of grain and oil enterprises actively integrate into the national "Belt and Road" construction, accelerate the pace of grain and oil "bringing in" and "going out", expand the diversified food market, win more development opportunities, and achieve remarkable results, changing the global food industry chain, value chain, and chain pattern, and making significant contributions to ensuring world food security. COFCO has carried out grain business with more than 50 countries, forming a first-class logistics network for agricultural products throughout the main producing areas and main sales areas. Xiamen Xiangyu Group has set up nearly 10 overseas branches around the world to comprehensively enhance the ability to integrate and utilize global resources and ensure the stability and smoothness of the industrial chain. Xi'an Aiju Group has built a "closed-loop" chain system of the whole industrial chain of "North Kazakhstan in Kazakhstan, Alashankou in Xinjiang, and Xi'an in Shaanxi".

China's grain machinery and equipment manufacturing industry has developed rapidly, and its independent research and development capabilities and manufacturing level have been continuously improved, reaching the international advanced level. With the implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the pace of "going out" of China's grain machinery and equipment enterprises has gradually accelerated, and the degree of internationalization is getting higher and higher. As the world's leading provider of intelligent sorting solutions, Anhui Jiexun promotes the development of a new pattern in the field of global intelligent sorting, covering more than 100 countries and regions. A number of grain machinery enterprises such as Hebei Pingle have strengthened technological innovation and successfully created a brand of China's grain machinery equipment. Jiangsu Fengshang's products are sold all over the world, and the countries that jointly build the "Belt and Road" account for about 50% of its foreign trade market share.

Although it is of great significance for Chinese enterprises to carry out agricultural cooperation in the countries and regions of the Belt and Road Initiative, the investment environment of these countries and regions is relatively complex, and enterprises will inevitably encounter various problems of "not adapting to the soil and water" when they "go to sea". For example, if you are not familiar with relevant international laws and regulations, do not understand relevant quota management policies, and are not familiar with the relevant requirements of inspection and quarantine, there is a lack of overall information support. In order to reduce the risks in local agricultural investment and operation, agricultural enterprises that "go global" and local overseas Chinese-funded enterprises and partners can develop in tandem, form a joint force, form a consortium, and form complementary advantages. Enterprises should effectively combine with the relevant state departments to invest in the infrastructure and resource development of the "Belt and Road", and work closely together to form a benign and mutually beneficial situation.

The participants believed that entrepreneurs are the messengers of friendship and cooperation, and it is necessary to continue to carry forward the excellent entrepreneurial spirit, and form a new pattern of grain industry development with complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation based on the principle of extensive consultation, joint construction and sharingWith interconnection as the main line, we will create an open cooperation platform and strengthen cooperation and exchanges in food policy, machinery, and other areasWith scientific and technological innovation as the driving force, we will build a large grain merchant with international competitiveness, and play a greater role in promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Civil society organizations (NGOs) are an important force in promoting economic and social development, participating in international cooperation and global governance. Over the past ten years, the China Grain Industry Association has helped the construction of the "Belt and Road" to be stable and far-reaching by building a first-chain cooperation platform, creating an international brand exhibition, and promoting international exchanges and cooperation. Ren Zhi, vice president and secretary general of the China Grain Industry Association, said that the association will continue to strengthen exchanges with the FAO associations and chambers of commerce of the co-construction countries, promote pragmatic and investment cooperation, and promote enterprises in the co-construction countries to strengthen cooperation and mutual benefit and win-win results.
