History of the school.
Founded in 1908, the University of Alberta is a world-renowned research university located in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, Canada. UA is also a founding member of the Canadian U15 Alliance of Research Universities, a member of the World University Alliance, and a member of the World Energy University Alliance.
Geographical location. UA currently has a total of five separate campuses, four of which are in Edmonton and one in Camrose:
The main campus (also known as the North Campus, covers an area of about 92 hectares, covers more than 150 buildings, and houses the International Institute of Nanotechnology, the University Hospital, the Pharmacy Center, the Art Center, etc.).
The Saint-Jean Campus (east of downtown Edmonton) is a French language school that covers majors including but not limited to: Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, Education, Science, Nursing, Environmental Science, and more. UA University offers a shuttle bus between the main campus and the French campus).
Augustana Campus (The predecessor of Augustana College was Camrose Lutheran College, founded in 1910 and located in Camrose, which was incorporated by the University of Alberta in 2004. Enterprise Square Campus (in the downtown Edmonton area, home to UA University Alumni Association, open to the public on weekdays, with a business school).
The South Campus (32,516 square meters with light rail connection to the main campus, has its own test station and farm, research base, several professional sports clubs, and is home to the Canadian Women's Basketball National Team).
