Gao Shunli How to enhance the experience of tourists in cultural scenic spots?

All kinds of scenic spots need to be based on their own characteristics, really from the perspective of meeting the needs of tourists, to make some practical and professional hard work, to research, to innovate, to develop, to improve, and constantly improve their own market competitiveness, in order to be invincible in the wave of tourism development.

A few days ago, I was invited to Quzhou, Zhejiang Province to participate in the 11th China (Kaihua) Gendiao Art and Culture Festival, and some people asked such a topic, as a cultural scenic spot, how to enhance the experience of tourists, in order to better respond to the needs of the modern tourism market.

This question has some depth of expertise and is not easy to answer. It involves a relatively large scope, and the scenic spots in the whole world are divided into three categories: one is humanistic, one is natural, and the rest can be classified into one category. If the cultural scenic spots are divided, they can be divided into many kinds: first, the ancient city and old streets, such as the ancient city of Taierzhuang in Zaozhuang City, Hongcun and Xidi in Huangshan City; the second is the category of cultural and museum venues, such as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses in Lintong, Sanxingdui in Guanghan City, and the Palace Museum in Beijing; the third is the intangible cultural heritage display category, such as Wuhu's iron flower, Weifang Yangjiabu woodblock New Year paintings; the fourth is night scenery and performing arts, such as the night tour of Dayan Ancient Town in Lijiang, Liu Sanjie and other large-scale landscape live performances; Fifth, other types of cultural scenic spots. As the host of this event, the 5A-level scenic spot "Gengong Buddha Country" in Quzhou Kaihua naturally belongs to the second category of cultural scenic spots.

Comparatively speaking, the cultural and museum scenic spots, which are mainly exhibition halls, are the most difficult to improve the experience of tourists. The main reasons: first, the space is limited, that is, there is such a large space in the exhibition hall, in addition to the display cabinets, what is left is the space for tourists to visit; Second, most of the tourists come for the exhibits in the museum, and then do other things seem to add to the snake, which is different from visiting the intangible cultural heritage site; Third, once the flow of many cultural and museum places is large, they are in a state of rubbing shoulders, and there is no time to make additional stays, and the vast majority of tourists have professional backgrounds or special hobbies.

So, is there a way to improve the experience of tourists? In my opinion, there is still some space, and doing it well will enhance the interest of tourists, let them immerse themselves in it with great interest, and obtain valuable knowledge, interest and spiritual benefits.

First, highlight special topics. When tourists visit cultural and museum venues, most of them like to watch some special exhibitions, which is convenient for concentration and interest. For example, the widely acclaimed permanent exhibition hall of Ningbo Museum has three major exhibitions, namely the Oriental "Shenzhou" Ningbo Historical Site Exhibition, the "Allah" Old Ningbo Ningbo Folk Customs Exhibition, and the Bamboo Carving Art Qin Chengnian Donation Mingchun Bamboo Carving Treasures Exhibition; The Jiashan County Museum in Jiaxing City is also impressive, with three fixed display items being "Dijia Renshan", "Tian Gesheng" and "Unquenchable Kiln Fire", which are very regional and unforgettable. The Louvre Museum in France, the exhibition is divided by region, age or category, whether it is to see Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting, or the representative works of the Italian Renaissance, or Egyptian mummies and murals, it is easy to find and enjoy.

Second, do a good job of explaining. There is a saying in China, "Walking through thousands of mountains and rivers depends on the mouth of the tour guide". As a cultural scenic spot, explanation is more important. Whether it is a world-famous painting, such as the exhibits of the French Impressionist Museum, the oil paintings of the Pushkin Museum in Russia, the religious paintings of the Florence Museum in Italy, or modern sculptures and root carving art, for ordinary tourists, there must be an explanation to see it, otherwise it is just water over the wet ground. Explanation and explanation are nothing more than three aspects, one is the annotation attached to the exhibits, the second is the on-site guide of the docent, and the third is the rental of recording equipment or scanning the exhibition hall APP. Only if you have one of these three aspects can you learn as much as possible about the exhibits in front of you. This requires the exhibition hall to do a lot of professional and meticulous work in advance, and pay attention to the professionalism and foreign language translation of the marking.

Third, show the context. It is to make the exhibits form a chain of thinking and restore the storyline. That is, visitors can get as much information and feelings as possible when they look at the whole exhibition hall, not just one aspect, which is too single and monotonous. Compared with the Louvre and Versailles in France, the artistic value of the Louvre's exhibits is certainly the first, but in terms of experience and interest, it must be the Palace of Versailles, because there are many interesting historical stories from the governance and life of Louis XIV to Louis XVI. I have seen several types of museums that use wood as raw materials, such as the Shili Red Makeup Folk Museum in Ninghai, Zhejiang, the Redwood Town in Longyou, Quzhou, the Wu Bingliang Huanghuali Art Museum in Jiangmen, Guangdong, and the Gengong Buddha Country Scenic Area in Quzhou. Although each has its own merits and colors, relatively speaking, I like the Ninghai Shili Red Makeup, which is relatively simple in display conditions, because it displays a wide variety of living utensils, revealing the life of wealthy families along the coast of Zhejiang in ancient times, reflecting the grandeur, grandeur and prosperity of ancient marriage folk ceremonies, not just how exquisite a certain kind of furniture is and how different it is from today. From this point of view, the exhibition and display of the museum's collection should not only be the core exhibits, but also have appropriate types of divisions, and there must be an extension of the head and tail, so that visitors can get more insights after visiting.

Fourth, strive for bright spots. In addition to the daily exhibition, according to the characteristics of their own exhibition hall, do some "addition" or "breakthrough", so that interested visitors can be personalized satisfaction, and at the same time enhance the external popularity of the exhibition hall. For example, Sanxingdui has built a cultural relics restoration hall, including a cultural relics storage area, a pottery restoration room, a jade restoration room, and a metal restoration room, which has been very popular after opening to visitors for free in September 2021. Luoyang Ancient Tomb Museum launched the "Museum Wonderful Night" to play the script during the Peony Flower Festival, the ticket price is 1688 yuan, visitors can play the script after the killing, overnight in the tent area drawn out of the museum hall, the outside world is rumored to sleep in the ancient tomb, immediately by the tourist market and public opinion; Some museums also invite masters of arts and crafts to give special lectures from time to time by releasing notices in advance, so as to attract the attention of tourists and visitors from all over the world.

Fifth, improve the exhibition hall. Like the civilized Gengong Buddha Country Scenic Area, there are many venues for thematic display of root carving artworks, which can make most tourists tired, and some subtraction can be done appropriately in this regard. It is to learn from the practice of "rotation rest" in some large scenic spots, only part of the exhibition halls are opened every year, and some exhibition halls are used for special research or maintenance and repair, which is also conducive to attracting tourists to visit again. At the same time, from the perspective of facing the needs of tourists, we can study and further improve the exhibition hall system to form a more complete visiting chain and plate. For example, the first is the Big Tree and Old Tree Museum, which reveals the source of root carving materials, which can be mainly displayed digitally, or produced and screened feature films; The second is the root material museum, which displays the roots of various trees, explains the main materials of tree roots, and uses it to turn waste into treasure; The third is the root carving skills museum, which is to display various tools of carving, the process of carving and chiseling (digital display), and the display of typical works of carving; Fourth, the World Root Art Museum, which can be exchanged or purchased to collect and display the representative works of different genres of root carving from various countries, reflecting the current level of root carving skills in various countries; Fifth, the Gendiao Cultural and Creative Museum, which provides small Gendiao works and Gendiao cultural and creative products for the majority of tourists to buy, and can also order Gendiao works according to tourists' preferences to increase the tourism income of the scenic spot.

As tourism enters an era of oversupply, all kinds of scenic spots need internal potential and product innovation. Increasing tourists' sense of on-site experience is one of the many requirements of the tourism market for scenic spots, and it is also where scenic spots should reflect on themselves. All kinds of scenic spots need to be based on their own characteristics, really from the perspective of meeting the needs of tourists, to make some practical and professional hard work, to research, to innovate, to develop, to improve, and constantly improve their market competitiveness, in order to be in the wave of tourism development, and strive to be invincible.
