Beijing, 9 Jan (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Justice and the China Disabled Persons' Federation recently issued opinions on further strengthening legal services for persons with disabilities, making it clear that by 2025, it is necessary to form a convenient, fast, high-quality and efficient legal service network for persons with disabilities covering urban and rural areas, the accuracy and effectiveness of legal services for persons with disabilities will be significantly enhanced, the quality of services will be significantly improved, and the right of persons with disabilities to enjoy basic public legal services on an equal basis will be better realized.
The Opinions make arrangements for further strengthening the force of legal services for persons with disabilities, enriching the content and methods of legal services for persons with disabilities, effectively safeguarding the lawful rights and interests of persons with disabilities, and promoting the comprehensive development of the cause of persons with disabilities. It is required to strengthen the integration of resources, further strengthen the force of legal services for persons with disabilities, enrich the content and methods of legal services for persons with disabilities in areas such as lawyers, notarization, legal aid, judicial appraisal, and rule of law publicity, continuously meet the growing demand for legal services for persons with disabilities, and help persons with disabilities share a better life.
The Opinions focus on the most urgent need of legal services for persons with disabilities, and put forward 11 key tasks, including: improving the public legal service network for persons with disabilities, lowering the threshold for legal aid for persons with disabilities, optimizing the working mechanism for legal aid for persons with disabilities, improving the quality of legal aid for persons with disabilities, carrying out public interest legal service activities for persons with disabilities, establishing a professional committee for the protection of the rights and interests of persons with disabilities, reducing or exempting fees for legal services related to persons with disabilities, strengthening the construction of a barrier-free environment, giving play to the supplementary role of legal aid for persons with disabilities, and implementing " Those who enforce the law shall popularize the law", and carry out publicity activities on the rule of law for persons with disabilities.
The Opinions also put forward that all levels of judicial-administrative organs and the Disabled Persons' Federation should strengthen coordination and cooperation, strengthen financial safeguards, improve the capacity and professionalism of legal services for persons with disabilities, promptly summarize experience, publicize exemplary examples, and create a positive atmosphere in which the whole society understands, respects, cares, and cares for persons with disabilities.
