Gai Wen is good at holding on to the living, and the tomb does not avoid the tiger, and he is not a soldier when he joins the army. There is nothing to throw at its horns, the tiger has nothing to do with its claws, and the soldiers have nothing to tolerate its blades. Why is the husband also? With its deathless ground.
Analysis:This paragraph continues the topic of the previous paragraph, since the longevity accounts for three-tenths, the short-lived accounts for three-tenths, and the lifespan is not long or short and is in the fold of life for three-tenths, who is the remaining tenth? This is the good detached person we are going to talk about in today's paragraph, and let's see how he does it.
Interpretation:I heard that those who are good at controlling life do not need to hide from rhinos and tigers when entering the mountains, and they will not be arrested when they encounter the army. The rhinoceros tiger didn't know how to hurt him, and the blade didn't know where to cut. Why is that?Because he wouldn't put himself in danger at all. There are rhinoceros and tigers infested with mountain roads, and he will not walk at all;Where there is an army to kill, he will not go at all.
Summary:This whole chapter argues for "existence and non-existence" through "life and death". If the "shengsheng" in the previous chapter is changed to "shengsheng", then "yousheng" will move to the place of death, so there will be life and death; To be free from death is to be good at living, so only without death can we live. Then replace "life and death" with "noble and cheap": if you are expensive, you will be cheap, and if you are not cheap, you will be expensive. Then replace it with "rich and poor": if there is rich, you will be poor, and only without poverty can you be rich. If you experience the logical relationship here, you can find that Lao Tzu's life and death are to demonstrate existence and non-existence, and if you want to pursue "existence", you must first understand the wisdom of "nothing". To summarize two points.
First, Lao Tzu still told everyone bitterly: there is nothing wrong with good life and evil death, and there is nothing wrong with pursuing fame and fortune. But you must understand that life and fame and fortune are all "have", and if you want to pursue have, you should not work "have", but on "nothing". In the organizational environment in which you lead, whether it's leading your body, leading your family, or leading a business. You take yourself as the opposite of the leadership object, let the leadership object become something, let yourself become nothing, and the opposition between existence and none, harmony and unity, in order to break through the ceiling and achieve the goal, this is inaction, inaction and non-action. If you want to take shade in the shade, you have to think about how you can avoid the sun first, instead of looking for shade everywhere.
Second, are cultivators afraid of death? This point is actually what Lao Tzu discussed later, so I will spoil it for you in advance. In the eyes of the cultivators, life and death are not static, nor are they only reflected in the material existence of the individual, so in the eyes of Taoists, some people are alive but have died, and some people are dead but still alive, just like Lao Tzu, although he has returned, he will always exist.
That's all for today, and we'll continue to study the Tao Te Ching next time, goodbye.
