The growing instability in China's neighborhood is not good news for China, but it is not impossible to deal with. In fact, China is ready to respond to changes in the situation around it, however, China's clear position does not mean that neighboring countries can understand China's good intentions. At the moment, South Korea's actions in the Asia-Pacific region are alarming. Recently, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea unveiled a new five-year national defense plan, which improves on the old version. There are several noteworthy points in the new plan.
First of all, South Korea's defense budget has increased significantly, 5% from the five-year plan defense budget announced in December last year, reaching 349 trillion won, or about 1 yuan9 trillion yuan. The second is to strengthen the defense against drone threats, which is understandable, because the combat methods of drones in the Russia-Ukraine conflict have been proven. In addition, at the end of last year, the South Korean side monitored the crossing of five drones, one of which even flew over Seoul, causing tension in South Korea. Therefore, strengthening the threat to UAVs becomes a priority. The third point is a special concept and key content, which is called the "Korean-type three-axis system".
This combat system consists of three parts: a "kill chain system, a missile defense system, and a large-scale punitive retaliation plan." This system has always been a source of pride for South Korea, believing it to be a winning weapon. Among them, the "kill chain system" is the top priority, which means that it can achieve preemptive strikes in the face of enemy missile threats. In other words, even in the face of enemy missile threats, it is able to locate and make decisions in time to strike enemy missiles in the shortest possible time. It is understood that this kill chain system is a set of systems built by the ROK side in combination with US military intelligence and according to its own situation. However, the system is not without flaws, and even has a fatal problem.
In short, if there is an error in reconnaissance information or a miscalculation in the decision-making process, it may lead to a large-scale war in serious cases. According to the South Korean side, this system is mainly aimed at its northern neighbor. However, as the northern neighbor continues to successfully test missiles, questions have begun to arise about the system's reliability. The new version of the five-year defense plan is clearly not only aimed at the northern neighbor, but even directly at China. In short, Yoon Suk-yeol has made up his mind to "lure the wolf into the house" just when South Korea is seeking reconciliation with Japan, and these two "wolves" are self-evident. With the exception of the United States and Japan, other countries will hardly spontaneously cause trouble in East Asia.
Faced with this situation, how should China respond? In fact, China has already begun to act. First of all, live-fire training was conducted in the northern part of the Yellow Sea to strengthen the PLA's cooperation and combat experience, and at the same time send an important message to the outside world: China has the ability and determination to defend its sovereignty!Second, China recently suspended urea exports, leading to a shortage of urea stocks in South Korea. If South Korea wants to solve its domestic dilemma as quickly as possible, cooperation with China is undoubtedly the fastest and most effective way. However, once they cooperate, it means that South Korea will make concessions on some fronts. Frankly, choosing one-sided options can do more harm than good to South Korea.
If South Korea wants to gain a foothold between China and the United States, there is another way for South Korea to go, and that is to strengthen the country's independence. Although the process may be difficult, it is better to solve it than to spare it for a while, and this is ...... only way out.
