Time flies, after vicissitudes, Xu Shiyou, a general of different generations, shoulders different responsibilities. However, our focus today is not on this outstanding soldier, but on the two ordinary staff members around him. They are Qu Yanming and Yu Zhengren, both of whom have carried heavy burdens in the automobile team.
What kind of extraordinary experience do these two heroes in ordinary positions have?
Qu Yanming, a young man with enthusiasm, is determined to save his family and country. Qu Yanming, who was born during the Anti-Japanese War, was not stopped by his poor family. In Huagou Temple Primary School, Qu Yanming showed intelligence that was different from ordinary people, but due to his difficult family background, his path to study was not smooth.
However, under the patronage of the Communist Party, the primary school became the focal point for the revolution. Qu Yanming's heart ignited a fire under the influence of the teachers, eager to fight for his family and country.
The opportunity finally came, and although he was not yet 16 years old, he insisted on joining the army and becoming a soldier. In many battles on the front line, Qu Yanming won the praise of his superiors and comrades-in-arms with his courage and outstanding achievements that were not afraid of death. In 1946, he was transferred to the Shandong Military Region Headquarters and became a personal guard of General Xu Shiyou.
Although he was far away from the battlefield, the responsibility in Qu Yanming's heart was even heavier. In order to better defend the general, he trained hard and was inspired to become a good guard. Two years later, Xu Shiyou personally recommended Qu Yanming to join the Communist Party of China, marking the official start of his political career.
Another year, Qu Yanming accepted the entrustment of General Xu, learned Xi driving skills, and became General Xu's driver. On the Korean battlefield, Qu Yanming showed outstanding command skills and became the commander of the transportation company. However, the brutality of war caused him to brush shoulders with death many times.
In the Sino-Indian counterattack, he was wounded and overturned, and his body was devastated after years of fighting. During his recuperation in the hospital, Qu Yanming applied to the organization for a job change, and finally ended the long years of conquest. In his later years, whenever he recalled the days with General Xu Shiyou, Qu Yanming was still full of emotion and burst into tears.
Yu Zhengren, the best among drivers. In 1955, Yu Zhengren enlisted in the army from Shandong and became a member of the 31st Automobile Regiment of the Nanjing Military Region. In 1960, he served as the platoon commander of the trolley platoon of the military region and directly provided services to the three major departments of the Nanjing Military Region.
Yu Zhengren has been in contact with many leaders, among which he has the deepest fate with Xu Shiyou. At the first meeting, Yu Zhengren gave Briquettes to General Xu, and his shouting attracted General Xu's curiosity.
In this encounter, Yu Zhengren showed alertness and humor, which won the laughter of everyone. In the subsequent contacts, Yu Zhengren showed his persistence and wisdom in the ordinary. In the assembly team, General Xu was even more impressed by Zhengren, although he was promoted, he still maintained his "little fish" mentality.
Yu Zhengren's persistence and love for his work have won him the respect of his superiors and colleagues.
With the passage of time, Qu Yanming and Yu Zhengren, two ordinary staff members, have written an extraordinary chapter in their lives by the side of General Xu Shiyou.
They either fought on the battlefield or silently served the military region, and they were all heroes of that era. Let us remember this extraordinary and pay tribute to the greatness in these ordinary.
