When I use the Admin account Telnet to remotely log in to an H3C switch, the following error message is displayed:failed to login because the idle timer expired.
If the switch clock cannot be modified in SNMP mode, the switch can only be restarted and the console login verification is skipped. With this solution, the configuration of the device still exists.
Tips: If the password recovery function is enabled on the H3C switch by default, the Restore to Factory Default Configuration solution can only be used if the password recovery function is disabled.
Connect the debugging PC to the console interface of the device through the console cable, confirm that the connection is successful, and then power off and restart the switch.
Step 1: "Press Ctrl+B to Access Extended Boot Menu.... appears0", press "Ctrl+B" in time to enter the "Extended Boot Menu", and the device will automatically display whether the password recovery function is enabled during the process.
Step 2: Ctrl+P: Change authentication for console login, skip console login verification.
Step 3: Enter "y" to confirm that the console login verification is skipped.

The preceding operations also apply to the process of forgetting the login password of the switch console.
After the password recovery function is configured, if the user forgets the authentication password of the console port or the login authentication fails, and the device cannot be operated from the command line, the user can clear the authentication password through the bootware menu and continue to use the device.
After the password recovery function is disabled, the device will be in a more secure state, that is, if you want to continue to use the console port to perform command-line operations on the device, you can only continue to operate after selecting the device to factory configuration through the bootware menu, which can effectively prevent illegal users from obtaining the boot configuration file.
