A great place to go in winter
Relying on the 500-meter aperture spherical radio telescope (FAST) project, China Tianyan Scenic Area is located in Hanglong Cultural Park, Kedu Town, Pingtang County, Qiannan Prefecture, Guizhou Province. The project uses a natural karst crater as a platform site, and thousands of units are laid in the pit to form a 500-meter spherical coronal active reflective surface, and a light cable dragging mechanism and parallel robot are used to achieve high-precision positioning of the telescope receiver.
Inaugurated in November 2017, China Sky Eye Scenic Area is currently the world's largest aperture and highest precision single-antenna radio telescope, and its design comprehensively reflects China's high-tech innovation capabilities. The 500-meter aperture spherical radio telescope in the scenic area is one of three innovative designs with independent intellectual property rights, namely a lightweight cable drag system, a parallel robot and a new cable net structure. It is able to receive radio waves from the universe and travel through the vast interstellar dust to draw a clearer blueprint of the universe.
In addition, the China Sky Eye Scenic Area is also composed of an experience hall, a radio astronomy hall, and an astronomical science popularization hall. Among them, the China Tianyan Observatory is located at the top of the mountain range about 200 meters north of FAST, with a total of Observation Deck 1 and Observation Deck 2. This is the best place for tourists to get a close overview of China's Sky Eye.
