I. Introduction Bryophytes are a primitive type of plants that grow mostly on moist rocks, bark and soil surfaces. Due to the particularity of their growth environment, the water absorption mechanism and adaptability of bryophytes have attracted much attention. In this paper, we will focus on the growth environment, water absorption structure, water absorption mechanism and adaptability of bryophytes in order to better understand the water uptake process of bryophytes and its importance in plant growth.
2. The growth environment of bryophytes The growth environment of bryophytes mainly includes moist rocks, bark and soil surfaces. These environments are usually rich in water, but the amount of water is not stable, so bryophytes need an efficient water absorption mechanism to adapt to this environment.
3. Water absorption structure of bryophytes The water absorption structure of bryophytes mainly includes roots, leaves and stems. Unlike other plants, bryophytes do not have a true root hair structure, but instead absorb water through water-absorbing cells on the surface. In addition, the leaves and stems of bryophytes also have the function of absorbing water and can directly absorb moisture from the air.
4. Water absorption mechanism of bryophytes The water absorption of bryophytes is mainly achieved through osmosis and capillary action.
