According to Reuters on December 27, a Turkish ** said on the 26th that Iran's Raisi will visit Ankara on January 4 next year to meet with Turkey's Erdogan, and it is likely to focus on discussing the situation in Gaza and Syria and bilateral relations.

The report quoted the ** as saying that Raisi's planned visit to the end of November was postponed because of a conflict in the timetable of the foreign ministers of the two regional powers.

Turkey, which has supported the "two-state solution" to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict for decades, sharply criticized Israel's attack on Gaza, called for an immediate ceasefire, and said that the Israeli leader should be tried by the International Court of Justice for war crimes.

Turkey has gradually stepped up its attacks on Israel since Israel launched air and ground strikes in Gaza in retaliation for the October 7 attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, but it still maintains commercial relations with Israel, drawing criticism from some opposition parties and Iran.

Unlike its Western allies and some Arab countries, Turkey, a member of NATO, does not consider Hamas a terrorist organization.

In general, Turkey and Iran have complicated relations, the report said. There are disagreements on a number of issues, primarily the Syrian civil war.

Representatives of Syria, Turkey, Iran and Russia have held several rounds of talks to find a political solution to the Syrian war, while Ankara has taken action to improve relations with Assad as part of a regional diplomatic effort launched in 2020, the report said.
