The "new energy vehicle environmental test", which may play a greater role in guiding users, has not only aroused the attention of car companies, but even some car companies have begun to take action.
On December 14, Great Wall Motor held a roundtable forum on "Jointly Improving the Environmental Testing Level of China's New Energy Vehicles". At the event, Great Wall Motor put forward seven initiatives, including the establishment of strict procedures for the environmental testing of new energy vehicles, and the provision of professional technical support by professionals, and announced the opening of all "new energy vehicle test platforms" to the whole industry, advocating that other car companies open up testing resources, jointly support the high-quality development and high-quality testing of Chinese automobiles, and promote more professional and rigorous "new energy vehicle environmental testing standards", calling for the early introduction.
At this roundtable forum, Great Wall Motor announced that all new energy test platforms will be opened to the whole industry, including the Heihe Winter Proving Ground dedicated to low testing, and it also announced that it will open up corresponding test resources in next year's summer test to improve the scientific and rigorous nature of summer testing. According to reports, Great Wall Motors has accumulated a set of professional automotive testing systems, involving energy consumption, power, stability, charging, cabin climate and environmental applicability and other dimensions, in line with the actual car environment of global users, covering conventional environmental testing, but also simulating the global extreme temperature and cold evaluation environment, through 56 test subjects, 21 hard-core test equipment, covering extreme heat, extreme cold, high temperature and humidity and high altitude and other extreme environment testing and verification.
It is worth mentioning that in the 2023 winter test project of Chedi, the M7 and Lynk & Co 08 EM-P failed to pass the "Opposite Road Elk" test, and the two models were even lower in the "pure electric range" test, causing an uproar. Subsequently, the brand executives of the two auto companies publicly questioned the scientificity and rationality of the relevant tests on social platforms. The Great Wall's tank 400 Hi4-T passed the "Split Road Elk Test" project, but in the PK between the "ice and snow climbing" models, the Tank 400 Hi4-T and the Wei brand Alpine were "defeated" by their opponents, and the Blue Mountain was also unable to complete the test due to failure.
For the environmental testing of new energy vehicles, there are also mixed reactions among automotive professionals and car owners.
Mr. Wu, who has many years of experience in automobile maintenance, told the reporter of Nandu Bay Finance Agency that professionalism and rationality are very important for such public tests. The new energy vehicle owners he usually contacts are more concerned about the real mileage and battery wear level of the vehicle. Therefore, the data of such tests will cause them to compare products. Mr. Deng, the owner of a pure electric vehicle, said that once the air conditioning compressor of his car failed, and he still needed to run a long distance in a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius to find a fast charging station to charge. Therefore, he pays more attention to the "limit" data of the key components of the vehicle.
Mr. Xiang, who has been traveling long distances for many years, has a different opinion. He thinks that if it is a test in extreme cases, just look at the excitement. Even if the data of this kind of test is produced in a completely objective and impartial situation, the test results will not become an important factor affecting his car purchase. In his opinion, tests that do not appear under "common use cases" do not have much reference value for him.
