On the occasion of the 32nd International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on December 1, the Yangpu District Disabled Persons' Federation held the 11th Yangpu District Vocational Skills Competition for Persons with Disabilities in 2023 at the Open University of Shanghai, showing the self-demeanor of the disabled, the fighting spirit of not being afraid of difficulties and moving forward bravely, and the results of the learning and Xi of the skills training for the disabled are effectively reflected in the effectiveness of promoting the employment of the disabled.
Promote learning through competition and compete with each other.
The vocational skills competition for the disabled involved a total of 7 major projects: computer operator, photographer, tea master, printmaking and carving, flower arrangement, massage and health care worker, and Western-style pastry chef. After the preliminary training Xi and intensive training, the disabled players were full of confidence, shining their talents and courage on the skill stage, and trying to prove to everyone that "I can". Every smooth movement and presentation of each stage is the result of their countless repeated Xi and unremitting efforts.
The scene of the Western-style pastry chef's competition is fragrant, and the dough is prepared, the raw embryo is formed, and the dim sum is matured. Professional judges and full-time disabled cadres in the neighborhood are strictly scoring and evaluating the first, second and third prizes of the project. Lin Xiuyun, a training teacher of Shanghai Open University Yangpu Branch, introduced that the scoring mainly depends on whether the on-site operation process of the contestants meets the regulations, and the quality of the finished product also accounts for a large proportion of the score.
The reporter learned that with the help of the teachers of the Open University, the District Disabled Persons' Federation has provided a variety of skills training for the majority of disabled people, and has carried out as many as 20 training projects, with a total of 446 people trained. In addition, the "Dream Studio for the Disabled" has been set up, and a number of experienced career counselors have been invited to provide personalized career planning advice for the disabled to help them better realize their self-worth.
The cultivation of talents also needs the support of the base. Through the establishment of a training base for the disabled, one-on-one teaching and hand-in-hand assistance are carried out by the instructors, and the problems encountered in the process of training for the disabled are solved in a timely manner, so that the disabled feel their own value and importance, and help the disabled improve their skills and practical ability.

This year, guided by the social talent market and the employment needs of the disabled, the Yangpu District Disabled Persons' Federation has created a new coffee training course and a coffee academy at the Yangpu branch of Shanghai Open University around the theme of "coffee", integrating practical training, theory and experience. Chen Lulei, the champion of the "Coffee Brewing" project of the 7th National Vocational Skills Competition for the Disabled, is the teacher here, in addition to teaching coffee making skills, Chen Lulei's positive mental outlook is also infecting the disabled friends around her. Chen Lulei said that people with disabilities may have to put in more effort than ordinary people in mastering the theoretical knowledge of coffee, but in terms of the skills to make a cup of coffee, they have no problem at all.
The good news is that after systematic learning and Xi training, 14 students of the Coffee Academy have successfully passed the primary examination of baristas of the national human resources and social security standards and enjoy the first subsidy. Cui Jia, vice chairman of the District Disabled Persons' Federation, revealed to reporters that in the future, social resources from all walks of life will be mobilized to discover more outstanding disabled baristas, encourage them to go out of their homes, receive professional skills training in coffee colleges, and actively guide them to employment and entrepreneurship, so as to form a complete set of closed-loop assistance models.
