Xiaoqisan is a dialect of Shanghai.

Qi San, usually referring to the unemployed vagrants in the city, is mostly unkempt and ragged. Xiao Qisan refers to street people who are younger and have little social experience. The term originated in the slums of Shanghai in the early 20th century, when the social environment was complex, the gap between the rich and the poor was wide, and a large number of poor people poured into the city in search of work. Some of them end up as street workers because they can't find a job or because they can't integrate into society for a variety of reasons. They often gather in the corners of the city and make a living by begging and scavenging.

Over time, the term has come to be used to describe people who are younger, have little social experience, and are immature in their behavior. The use of the word "Xiaoqisan" has also expanded to the entire Shanghai area, and has even become part of the Shanghai dialect.

Although the term Xiaoqisan has some derogatory connotations, in some cases, it can also be used to describe people who have no social experience, lack self-confidence, and independence. When using this word, one should pay attention to the occasion and tone of voice to avoid hurting the feelings of others. At the same time, we should also respect each person's personality and characteristics, and not easily define or label others.
