On December 14, ZEEKR officially released the BRICS battery on Energy Day. The biggest highlight of the battery is that the volume utilization rate reaches 83 in the case of using more cost-effective iron phosphate cells7%, and it can also achieve a 15-minute charging range to increase the energy replenishment efficiency of more than 500km.
The gold brick battery even surpasses the CATL Kirin battery, which uses ternary lithium batteries and has a volume utilization rate of 72%, and is the world's first power battery with a volume utilization rate of more than 80%, further solving the problem of low energy density of lithium iron phosphate batteries.
In order to make full use of the space in the battery pack, BRICS Battery has made a lot of structural innovations.
By using an integrated liquid-cooled tray instead of the traditional water pipe cooling mechanism, the encroachment of structural parts on the internal space of the battery is reduced, and aviation-grade ultra-thin thermal barrier materials are used between the cells to further release the internal space of the battery pack. Together with the cells, the top cover and bottom plate are compressed into a more compact "sandwich structure".
Under a series of improvements, compared with the traditional structure of the battery, the number of core components of the BRICS battery is reduced by 35%, the total length of the sampling line is shortened by 157m, and the energy density of the battery is increased by more than 10%.
While the energy density has reached a new high, the BRICS battery also has a good charging efficiency.
By using electrodes designed with laminated multi-tab structure, the heat distribution of the gold brick battery in the fast charging state will be more uniform, which is conducive to temperature management. The double-riveting pole conduction design nearly doubles the overcurrent capacity of the gold brick battery compared with the monopole solution. In addition, the improvement of the efficiency of the release, transmission, and reception of lithium ions inside the battery also contributes to the improvement of charge/discharge efficiency.
With the combination of battery structure innovation and internal lithium-ion ultra-fast technology, the maximum charging rate of the BRICS battery can reach 45C, matching the 800V technology of ZEEKR, the maximum charging power can reach 500kW, and within the 10% 80% fast charging range, the battery life can be increased by 500km in 15 minutes, which is currently the world's fastest mass-produced lithium iron phosphate battery.
