IT Home reported on December 16 that according to a report by TrendForce, TSMC is actively promoting the 2nm process nodeThe first machine is scheduled to enter the factory in April 2024.
Wang Yongzhuang, director of the Hsinchu Science Park Administration, announced yesterday that the first phase of Zhuke Baoshan has been completed, and the TSMC Global R&D Center will be opened this year.
The second phase of the Baoshan project is currently under construction, and at the same time promoting TSMC's 2nm process plant 1 and 2, which will become TSMC's first 2nm process production base after completion, and the construction work is progressing smoothly, and the first machine is expected to enter the factory in April 2024.
IT Home previously reported that TSMC and Samsung both plan to start mass production of 2nm process chips in 2025, and the early battle between the two sides has begun.
According to the report, TSMC has shown the 2nm process prototype test results to major customers such as Apple and NvidiaSamsung has also followed suit with a 2nm prototype and will offer a cheaper price to attract high-profile customers, including Nvidia.
Qualcomm's next-generation flagship chip will be powered by Samsung's "SF2" (2nm) process. As the first company in the world to mass-produce 3nm (SF3) chips last year, Samsung is also a pioneer in adopting a new Gate-Surround (GAA) transistor architecture.
